6-11 Crowds, Mark Twain and Rick Dees

So I decided that when I got off work at 11:45 today I would head to the park and catch some of the Dream Job winners and see the crowds at Nemo.

When I got to the park the traffic wasn't bad and thought maybe the crowds did not show as predicted. Boy, was I wrong.

First of all I needed to eat lunch in DTD so I could get my parking stub validated and then I headed over to DCA to catch our own MiceChatter, Brandon who was one of the winners for parade performer. Tomorrow I will post more photos seperately of him but here is one for now. That's him in the middle, #33.

Next I raced over to Pirates Lair to catch another of our MiceChatters, kennygman77 who was a Dream Job winner as a pirate. On the way I noticed, as others have, that the Mark Twain was out from under its wrapping and they were testing the paddle wheel and smoke was coming out of its stacks. A wonderful sight!

And a view of it from the raft.

On the way over I saw local radio personality, Rick Dees waiting while they were setting up a film spot of him. He saw me setting up to take his picture and kindly posed for me (and for which I thanked him)

No one could tell me when the dream winners would make their next appearance so I wandered around and saw they had Jack posing in the skeleton ball.

While waiting around press people came and went with camera people in tow. At one point they walked over to the side and interviewed a pirate.

By now I had been there over an hour and still no one could tell me when they might perform again. Sorry kenny and I hope your friends got photos of you and that you post them when you get home.

I decided to head to the subs and see what the crowds and line were like. On the way I noticed the waterfalls on the Matterhorn were turned off.

I walked past the Matterhorn and ran smack dab into ... THE CROWD!!!

    They were everywhere ...

I did manage to get my camera between people and take a shot showing the waterfall was on today.

Now for some shots of the line around 3:20 PM this afternoon. I start the photos past the lagoon and across from the Matterhorn

and going further along I turned and looked back

looking over to the fantasy dock area

I walked past the booth and discovered that this is where the line began.

I did see the ropes leading to Small World but no one was there. Not sure what the wait time is from this area but I chose to wait. Wait that is for another day. Not today for me as I had to be somewhere else for the evening. I'll go some other time.

For my final shot, something I don't see very often...a calm, peaceful and empty Storybook canal.

Sorry I missed some of you today. But, of all things I did run into a woman I have known for 40 some odd years who was there with her children. We watched the Billy Hill show and got caught up on stuff.

A nice but rushed and very crowded day.

Did you push Rick Dees over into the river, pretty please?

    Just kidding!

    No I'm not.

Great pics!!! The line looks sooooo scary.

Those crowds just look scary! So happy I ended up leaving early so I missed all that craziness!

Although I have to admit, that a line up to that area ... with some friends ... wouldn't be that bad.

Rick Dees needs to be banned from DL. =)

Well, I do have to admit that I didn't know who it was. Just knew they were filming someone and I heard a person behind me saying something and so turned and asked who is that So, always looking for a photo op I took one picture from the side (which didn't come out well at all) and seeing they were not shooting yet I walked around the front and held up my camera and looking at my screen saw him pose. It really was nice of him to do that. I only listen to classical KUSC so I know nothing about Rick Dees other than hearing his name and seeing ads.

Wendy - thanks for the wonderful pics and TR. As always, you are a delight.

And I'd just thought I'd mention that Mr. Dees is one of the more talented, and one of the nicest people in the history of Southern California radio.

You should've asked Rick Dees to serenade you with a chorus of Disco Duck. LOL!
