Here's a look at the press preview party for the Nemo Submarines ride, Sunday night, 6-10-2007. The closed off almost half of Tomorrowland for this shin-dig. I'll start with a daytime view from Space Mountain...
Next, a view of the band at Tomorrowland Terrace.
A table setting, with the Terrace in the background.
This is near the entrance to the party. The giant Nemo is actually just a costume sitting on the ground. It looked like a normal prop until I got up close and spotted the screened eye-holes.
I loved these giant floating jellyfish. There was also a really cool lighting effect projected onto the Tomorrowland side of the Matterhorn. It looked like the reflections at the bottom of a pool. It was all pretty surreal.
They had a bunch of themed bars set up throughout the area. I've always said that free booze is the one sure way to get journalists to your staged media event. And Disney's media relations people never miss a beat.
Here's one of the dessert tables behind the stage. I had some kind of pineapple-froth-cake thing that was really good. All the catering was pretty elaborate. In fact, I'd say "elaborate" was really the key word for the whole event.
This tall, dancing, horizontal, reef/man/thing was dancing to the music all evening.
Until a month ago, I'd never met Tony Baxter. And now our trails have crossed twice. Small world indeed.
More photos to come...
