    Dreams Come True Fireworks Sountrack

Am I the only one who's confused as to why Julie Andrews introduces herself for no apparent reason in the beginning of the show? For some reaosn that kind of irrates me. Reminds me of somthing they would do to mock celebraties on the simpsons when introducing them before returning to the plot of chaos.
Don't get me wrong. The soundtrack was done absolutly beautifully and is a masterpiece in itself, but hearing that confused me. I had to double check just to make sure i wasent hearing stuff.

In "Remember, Dreams Come True" she is playing the role of an emcee. And since she is only heard and not seen she introduces herself to listeners - much like a radio announcer would. I have no problem with it. This show is perfect. Just too small a viewing area is my only complaint.

side note - I love Julie Andrews.

Well, the introduction is to show as jmuboy who the narrator this story is. He states "Hello, this is Julie Andrews" and then goes into her story... I think it's quite nifty! Also, us disney fans new long before the show came about, she was the narrator, but many tourists will just think it's someones darn old voice. It shows that someone as magical as julie andrews, is taking apart in the celebration!

I am delighted that Julie Andrews is the emcee and going by the reaction of the crowds each night, thousands of other Park guests are as well.

She is a class act and perfect for the role as Official Ambassador of Disneyland's 50th Birthday Celelbration!

i am also pleased that it is Julie Andrews instead of the previously planned emcee, Jimini Cricket!

Julie Andrews is the Official Ambassador of the 50th Anniversary at Disneyland. It makes perfect sense.

Plus, she's a real life princess. Who needs Ariel or Belle to introduce anything when you've got the real thing in Julie Andrews.

Heheh, I get what you mean, Derakuda. Despite the fact that the introduction makes sense, it strikes an odd - and somewhat comical - note as well.

On the one hand, I love that even people who may not recognize her voice will be made aware that it's freaking Julie Andrews narrating the fireworks ... and on the other hand, we've been making fun of "hello, this is julie andrews" ever since May.

I agree with you. I actually winced the first time I saw the show because she had to introduce herself. I don't know, it seems kind of beneath her to have to do that. Maybe it's just that I'm a voice person and I can easily recognize them, though. I get where they would want to give her credit for those who don't instantly recognize her voice. Still, it's the one part of the show that grates me.

    Uhh... duh. I'm not mental.

She is Mary Poppins and Maria and Queen Clarisse and even played Cinderella on TV at one point!

She is the closest thing to a real life "Disney princess" in the world today.

I'm sure Disney paid big bucks to have Julie do this all for them, so they want it to be transparently clear that it is Julie speaking and not some random British woman...but along that thread, I am wondering why they do not use "Remember When" more, given the money they had to pay LeAnn to record it...

I don't know....it could be the other way. I'm sure Julie Andrews has a very very close relationship with Disney seeing as how shes done alot with them. Im sure if Disney were to ask her to do the soundtrack without offering money, she still would have taken it. Sort of as it would be an HONNER to be the official voice of disney celebrating 50 years. They may not have oaid her.

I am sure they paid her, whether she demanded money or not. It is kind of insulting not to pay someone for doing something like this. Like, when we get some speakers to come to our school, they may not have a certain "price" per se, but we always give them a rather large "gift". In the least, Julie has a lifetime pass to DL I'd narrate Remember for one of them! Hell, I'd clean up after the Main Street horses for a week for one of them...
