Fantasmic Returns with the Mark Twain

I went into the park for a bit tonight with the plan to stay for F!, but I ended up leaving a bit early. When I walked through Frontierland the Mark Twain was at the dock and the Columbia as in Fowler's Harbor. By the time I left the park both boats were in position ready to run for tonights performances.

So was the Mark Twain up for guest today, or was it just up for F! only?

*sigh* I was hoping to be there to see the big return but life didn't work out. I'll have to wait until July to watch Fantasmic, hopefully others here managed to go? I'll be waiting to read up on everyone's personal experiences.

Re: Fantasmic Returns with the Mark Twain

The Mark Twain returned to service today, and for use in F!

The Mark Twain also got a brand new spiel and music and audio system to broadcast it with. I haven't heard it yet, but I've been told the new voice actors sound much more Southern and there is a lot more variety to the music instead of just the banjo playing over and over.

Also, with the new spiel, the Mark Twain reportedly now has a new First Mate who is from Mexico and speaks fluent Spanish. This Spanish speaking First Mate reminds parents who haven't learned English yet to keep their children off the handrails and to refrain from smoking during the voyage.

The Columbia also has a new spiel, and also a deckhand who speaks Spanish.

Glad it's back and I always laugh at all of the spanish spiels since I understand it and the actors are just sound too funny, especially at big thunder mountain railroad.

Now, I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic!

As of my Cast Member Reference Guide; the Mark Twain River boat is not scheduled to reopen till 6/19/2007. Whether that is accurate, or whether they have been having Soft Openings I am not sure. But the info Disney wants us to give out is no, not till the nineteenth.

Yes. And they look great. They use LED lighting now that changes colors and patterns and is synced up with the show perfectly. The previous barges from 1992 just used flashing Christmas Tree lights strung along the sides of the barge.

As for the Mark Twain returning "early", it had been planned to open today for at least three weeks. The CM schedules posted for this weekend with both a Columbia and Mark Twain crew, and the schedules are created three weeks in advance. That means Attractions management knew at least three weeks ago that both boats would operate this weekend.

Mark Twain and Columbia were both running for guests today. Mark Twain looks absolutely gorgeous. She gleams she's so clean and fresh. It made me indescribably happy to see that boat out and about again. I had to leave before F! though.

    Fantasmic! looks spectacular.
The majority of the show is what you've seen before many times (no new fountains, no Ursula, etc.)
Some of the lighting has recieved an overhaul. The princess/monkey barges look GREAT and wonderfully vibrant. There's a lot more color and a much purer look to the whole lighting scheme. The Twain returns as the queen of the river, for sure.
Most of the lights are the same, though I noticed some of the old PC spots seemed to have been sporting dicrohic filters rather than the old color changers.
It looks and sounds like new.

Thumbs up Re: Fantasmic Returns with the Mark Twain

I saw the 9pm show tonight, and it looks simply amazing.

The Pinocchio segment also got new LED lighting, along with the jungle book dancing monkeys. The princess segment looks stunning - it's a huge improvement
