    4. The ride is cute, but I think the reason why it doesn't get as much love is because of the ride vehicle. Like Pooh, the vehicles are bulky, large, and not intimate. What I love about all the Fantasyland dark rides is that they're small and they zip around the building making tons of sudden twists and turns into several environments. Monsters and Pooh by contrast move slow (because they're big), do a lot of straight lines, and travel in fewer but grander locations.

My reason #4 I think is the real fault here. Think about for a sec why you love Mr. Toad or Alice in wonderland or even Snow White and Pinocchio. It's how crazy and unpredictable it is. It makes it really really fun.
Excellent points, I love how crazy and unpredictable those old school dark rides are. Pooh and Monsters completely lack those elements.

I don't exactly like Pooh, I just perfer it to Monsters Inc. Largely because of the vehicle motion and the acid trip sequence.

Re: Monster Inc. Mike and Sculley to the Rescue. Why isn't there more hate?

I feel it is greatly over rated. Slow moving (not just the speed of the cars), unimaginative, too many bare spots, cheap figures. First of all, I don't like riding through a movie. I saw the movie. I liked it. Give me more, not the same. Also, they have actual clips from the film...then we see that exact same scene....Not only is it a scene coppied off the film, but we see it twice in a row. I like ITTBAB because it takes the characters from Bugs Life and creates an original show. Give me a tour of Monstropolis that doesn't just take me to scenes from the movies, expand on the world and make it seem larger and more complex.

I think the only reason Monsters Inc does so well is that its the only game in town. With no other darkride in DCA, it is the one touch of Disney parks. I actually prefered Superstar Limo, while much cheaper and relying too much on ABC stars, there was much to look at and a lot of good ideas, and best of all, it fit the theme.

Re: Monster Inc. Mike and Sculley to the Rescue. Why isn't there more hate?

Hate to tell you this, but I LOVE the ride. The former attraction was a walk-on. Rarely even had a line. Monsters has remained consistantly popular ever since it opened. There are marvelous, humorous and colorful things going on in every scene. The holograms are phantastic. It's a real joy.

Hopefully, DCA will build an inverted coaster that is based on the Monsters theme or some other film. Those that want rides that are based on everything except Disney/Pixar should stick with Knott's and Magic Mountain. No Pixarland there to worry about guys.

I agree with the author of this thread that Pooh is a good ride. It's not of the same caliber as Tokyo and WDW. Just the same, it's a fun experience. Hope that DCA adds the Country Bears one day, as has been previously rumored.

I really like Monsters. And I really like Pooh. I think they are both just fun, happy little dark rides that briefly transport you to a more colorful world. I guess it's just a matter of appreciating these rides for what they are.

It is far superior to Pooh, and Monsters, Inc. also benefits from the fact that it resides in DCA, and therefore is held to a lesser standard where theme and placement are concerned. It's an entertaining ride with little to really love or hate.

While the other dark rides capture moods and atmospeheres, Monsters Inc. is just a really really really slow taxi ride. Granted, I belive not everything was working on my 2 rides through MI,but I felt that nothing happened the entire time. Even Pooh is better. I have heard of the Abondinable(sp) Snowman showing up, and I didn't see him on my ride throughs. Why is there so much hate for Pooh, but not for the far worse Monster Inc. Mike and Sculley to the Rescue?
(BOLD mine) We are too busy hating the Subs right now to think about Monsters, Inc. And after the Subs, we have the Midway Mania, then the Cars thing...I can't see us having any "hate" time open until 2009, really.

And that's actually the biggest crime of all.

I love Monsters, hated Nemo subs..I don't know. Maybe it's because I loved the Monsters Inc movie so much. It just seems more real than Nemo did.

Like the many of DCA's attractions, it's just there. It happens to be mildly amusing, but it has little substance, or repeatability. I can't see why anyone would "hate" it really, though..."Pooh", however, is an abomination.

I cannot have ANY respect for Pooh after experiencing TDR's Pooh.

The reason why "just there" is probably worse for the park is that something really bad WILL get replaced (like Superstar Limo). But something like Pooh and Monsters Inc are just so mediocre that they'll sit around unnoticed by management and be mediocre for all time.
