Does that still hold true since I am someone with NO previous experience with being taught at any type of piano? Because if it does, I am extremely interested. At this stage, I am willing to put my all my free time into this.

It might be possible, but certainly not the preferred method. Alan was an acomplished and polished trumpet player when he decided to switch to piano.

I would suggest that you start working on your own, and at least get started building up your playing before approaching Rod - consider him as a "Master's Thesis" tutor.

(Disclaimer: I used to play piano and organ as a kid - badly. Now that I have more free time to practice, I don't have a piano or keyboard to do it on.)

Get a "Teach Yourself Piano" program and invest some of that free time now. You might even get a local beginning piano teacher. Learn the basics, start working on your scales and runs, start learning how to read sheet music if you can. When you have several songs you can play through without sheet music, then you are probably ready to go on to the next level.

The important thing I can pass on is to Learn Properly. If you start using a bad playing or fingering technique, you'll play hell changing your mechanics after the motion is firmly entrenched. And when learning a song, play it slow enough to learn playing it properly the first time. Once you have the song nailed, then you can speed up.

Does anyone know if his CD is available anywhere outside the park? I had mine stolen while inside the park last weekend...

I believe he has his own website, you could start there.

    edit:
    Yep, here it is

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...
