Didn't even know he was on leave.
Check in the Mice Chat lounge. There's an update there.
This has been a Filmways presentation dahling.
Rod was in this morning to have his picture taken for the service award banquet. He is celebrating 35 years at Disneyland
Shouldn't it be 36? He's been there since 1969.
The hire date on the back of his ID says 1970. Also when he came in he told me he was here to have his picture taken and that he has been at Disneyland for 35 years.
Saw Rod the night of 7/16. He said October at the earliest, but maybe not till winter.
Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...
Can you go up and talk to him or something? I've always wanted to see this guy. I love that style of music.Originally Posted by Morrigoon

There are a few different pianists at the park. You can tell it's Rod because there's usually 1 or 2 tables pulled up to the right side of the piano when he's there. You can tell it's Johnny because there isn't
Alan also gets guests pulling tables up - Rod's regulars, for the most part. But you can tell it's Alan because he's the young one.
Anyway, when Rod's there (and trust me, when he returns there'll be threads), he's totally social with the guests, just step up to the piano and say hi.

Oh ok, I thought it was RON Miller there at first glance. Ron Miller was the football jock son-in-law of Walt Disney who took over as the CEO of Disney right before Eisner. He was also executive producer of many of Disney's animated films around that time. After Roy Disney had his way with Disney, Ron was kicked out of the company after meeting with the Board in 1984 and currently runs a winery in Northern California with his wife Diane Disney Miller.
Anyway, back on topic, does anyone know how old Rod Miller is?
I had never seen Johnny play until recently. Although we still prefer Rod, Johnny has a very different style; he'll play a long medley, then take a break and let guests take a turn at the keys, even if they've only been playing a little while.
Not sure...but, any guesses?Originally Posted by Athlonacon

Rod's so awesome. I hope our paths cross in the park again someday. I've decided not to venture a guess on his age. But he does love to say that he never went to Disneyland when he was a kid because, after all, there was no Disneyland yet.
Why was/is he on medical leave? He's okay, right?![]()
Rod is slowly recovering from a severely pinched nerve to his right leg - the 'sustain pedal' side. (Unfortunately, emphasis must be placed on the word slowly, since nerves heal at the rate they want to, rather than at the rate you want them to - that's how it works...Originally Posted by Datameister

He'll be back, but it will still be a while.

He graduated high school in 1965, so he's anywhere from 58-60. And he was hired in October 1969, so maybe he began working full time in 1970.Originally Posted by Murphy
