Post #75: Part IX - Nightshots

(Part I)

So....yesterday was the first time LDF and his kids made it from 8:30 am....to PARK CLOSING! Whooooo hoooo....ooooo.....

zzzzzzzzzzzzz..........

Mmmmph? Where was I....?

Without further ado.....on with the report!

We began the day at 8:30am with NO LINE!! (those deluxe fastpasses just paid for themselves as the Socal passes were blocked out.) The first thing I noticed was that the refurb had been completed on the Main Street Station:

and of course we headed straight to the subs!

Which already had a two hour plus wait. So off to Space Mountain which we fastpassed and then jumped in line for with a 15 minute standby line:

I like how you you can see tonsils in at least two of my kids on this shot...

Then off to Buzz and Star Tours. Lightspeed to Endor!

Then off to Splash Mountain...

Again we fastpassed and jumped in a standby line of 10 minutes...(Maybe everyone else is in line for Nemo?) The view from the Splash queue:

Then off to show the kids the new Pirate Lair. Arrrrrrrr....

Davy Jones' Locker...

My daughter, brave soul that she is, works up enough courage to touch it. "Ewwwwwww!"

Then off to the back side of the island. The bilge pumps...

"AUUUUUUUGH!" Should I leave them? Hmmmmm....

The skeleton hoist seems to be working again...

The kids enjoyed the view from the tree house...

And I got a chance to try out my new 18-200 lens...

The fort is being dismantled little by little...

(More shots on that later...)

The mighty Columbia makes it's trip around the island...

And what would a Pirate Lair be without Pirates?

More to come....

Thanks, LDF, your trip report is off to a great start. Your kids are cute (and I bet their dentist wishes he could get them to open up that wide!), and look like they had a blast.

Your colors are very nice, as usual. I never asked what you use for color tweaking, actually... what program is it?

Oooh...200mm, huh? Is that a Canon? Venturing into L territory, perhaps? If so, I envy you with much oomph and gusto... >.>

I have to go in chronological order or it will throw off my groove.

Many of my shots keep washing out while in "auto" on my Nikon D70, so I've been running them through Photoshop Elements. It's tough to get good color in the bright morning haze just after the low clouds burn off...

(Part Two: Up close and personal with the Pirates....)

So.....there we were on Tom Sawyer's Pirate Lair...Island....thing...

(I have GOT to get me one of these hats...)

when the Pirate Stunt Show began. It started with this guy swearing us in as Pirates...

And then....the red head appeared. Shall we say it together?

AYE! WE WANTS THE RED HEAD!

She asks the smaller pirates in the front row to hold on to the rope...

as she jumps in to fetch Jack...who in this shot is wondering if it's safe to come out:

I thought this particular Jack did an amazing job...he was convincingly wobbly throughout:

Then another pirate...can't recall his name, appears via the rope...

and tells Jack to hand over the map. Jack says "Do ya want a piece of me?"

And off they go:

Don't mess with the redhead...

Jack suggests a contest. Savvy?

Enjoyed a hearty breakfast this morning, did you dear?

Easily the victor in the contest...

I think this guy has some Kirk Douglas going on. I think he's a ....er...I meaan...my DAUGHTER thinks this guy is a hunk:

Time to negotiate...

The victors!

(More to come....)

Excellent TR so far! Can't wait for the rest. I wouldn't want to throw off your groove so I'll let you stick to chronological order. Can't wait to get out to the island and take a look around myself. Thanks again!
