No Fast Food 50th Celebration Promotion?

Over the years, my family kind of expected the Disneyland/Disneyworld Promotions at McDonald's. The chance to buy cups/mugs, a chance to win a trip to one of the theme parks, and even cool little toys. Yet this year, when we were sure that we would be going to McDonalds at least once a week to win a trip, there is nothing? Why? Is McDonald's and the Disney Company going through a tough time because of the movies not doing well? Did Super Size Me damage McDonald's reputation with the public? It's very weird. And we keep expecting to hear something the closer we get to the 17th. Yet nothing. I feel this is a little weird. What do you think? What's your ideas if there a celebration?

    MY IDEAS:

For the kid meals, 50 attraction cars and an Attraction Poster Card (perhaps 50?). In each kid meal, you would get a car and it's attraction card. Then you could release a special cup/mug for each of the Disney theme Parks, including Hong Kong. Plus, a give away on the fry cartons for free stuff, like a trip to Disneyland. That would definitely get me to go to McDonalds.

Remember the game McD's did quite a few years back with the trivia scretch off game pieces. GOD I loved that game. I ate wayyyy too much McD"s(especially since *I* really can't stand their food)just to play that game.

I would love to see a 50th tie in though. I love the 50 attractions idea! They could go one step further and randomly have some golden ride vehicles in there too! Too Cute

I too was looking forward too seeing toys and glasses for the 50th. McD's and Disney are going seperate ways next year, but I think that this year, the should still be able to something for Disneyland's BIG 50. Anyone remember the 100 toys for Walt's birthday. I think that they might plan on a 50 promo down the line. I mean didn't they do the Walt's 100th promo near summer. That wasn't right on target, it was about six months after the fact (or was it before the fact? I can't remember... :o ). Maybe we will see these items coming soon. We have 16 more months left to celebrate. At least, I can hope...

    McDonalds

I emailed them a while back and they told me for legal reasons there was nothing they could tell me. Meanwhile we are stuck with Shark Boy and Lavagirl toys, I thought maybe the DL stuff would come up around the 16th of July, but it's NeoPets next...

McDonald's has been rethinking their relationship with Disney- the contract is up soon and McDonald's may not renew it. That's probably why we haven't seen anything cross promotional. There have been several articles posted in the news forum, if you do a search for McDonalds you can find out the exact details.

That's good to hear. I don't really care too much for the Fries wagon at the park. I go to Disneyland and Disney World to get away from the outside world. That includes McDonald's. Outside of the parks, I wouldn't mind going to fast food to think of the parks. Maybe Taco Bell can pick Disneyland up. Now that's a restaurant I could go to four or five times a week for Disneyland stuff. And it's cheap :-)

Exactly...I'm glad Mickey D's sprinkled so much money on the Disney Parks (they practically paid for Dinoland at Animal Kingdom), but it's time for them to go...Disney food is much better than Mickey D's food.

McD's had those for the 40th anniversary and they do sell the die cast ones in the park, if you are talking about attraction vehicles with characters in them.

As long as we get 50 good toys, I will be happy... Otherwise it will be a less-than-happy meal.

Edit: And if we don't get anything.. It will be an I am ticked off ready to kill someone kind of meal. (JK, maybe not... :o )

I'm kinda glad they aren't doing anything. I try to eat McD's as little as possible. Had a McChicken and some fries last week ... ugh. I still can't believe how much I used to eat this stuff.

Take out the McD's in DCA and put an In N' Out.

You can just buy the toy, you know.

But yes, I am in for In N Out. They have the best fries and the best burgers... and yeah... they're my fav fast food.

Better yet, take out McD's from DCA and use this oppurtunity to retheme route 66 and add a large Dark ride in the tremendously obsurd large piece of property used for Burger invasions building and eating area.

    Anyone San francisco Bay expansion!!!

Then re-open some of the other eating areas that are closed around the park.

    Good riddens Mcdonalds!!!!

    Hasbro Theme Park Collector Series

If your talking about the individual Attraction cars and Characters collector items, Disney and Hasbro released the Yellow, Blue, and Green packs which include three character/attraction cars in each pack. I have all of the Yellow and Blue packs, but still missing a few of the Green. Here's what kind of "attraction vehicles" and "characters" that you can find:

    Teacups with Louie
    Monorail car
    Matterhorn Bobsled
    Epcot
    Magic Kingdom Castle
    Disneyland Castle
    Disney MGM Earful Tower
    Hitchiking Ghosts
    Mr. Toad Buggie
Goofy, Donald, Mickey, Daisy, and Minnie
    Figment
    Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore
    Belle and Beast
    Test Track Car
    and so on.

I have found the Blue and Yellow packs at Disneyland. But have found the Green Packs only at WDW.
