    Re: Skyway

I agree the cost would be horrific & not aesthetically pleasing if the gondolas had a separate route. It just seems like a terrible shame to have closed it when 90 percent of the visitors aren't in wheelchairs though. My father is in one & there's no way he'd want to go near the Skyway even if it was open & accessible but I guess he'd be in the minority :-)

they were fun when i was a kid, but i wouldn't care for their return.

i love any random person's response, "i heard that someone fell and died, and that's why they closed it." why does everyone think just b/c they closed something, somebody had to die there?

Do I miss Sky, in a way, but I also felt that it showed you views of backstage and in some ways took away from the "magic" depending on where you looked. Nice view though.

    Re: Skyway

Skyway's are damn fun to work.

It's ADA compliant if they just send a group with a wheelchair in a round trip. They can travel to the other end on the ground, and still experience the ride if they want to (but not get off on the other side). I think just one end would be enough, but I think both sides could do the round trip deal at the park where I worked.

That said, they're a maintenance bear and not quite as failsafe as a lot of rides nowadays, and definitely horrendous capacity no matter what you do. It'd be great for nostalgia sake, but I'm 100% sure for every person on here wanting it for that reason, there'd be just as many complaining about being able to see the M&F parking structure and pyro setups on the Fantasyland rooftops.

We miss it because you could see things like this

    and this

But we miss it most because nothing better has replaced it.

Those are too high up to be Skyway shots. They look like aerial photography when the park was closed (notice the PM's all bunched together).

But your main point is correct. One of the best thing about the buckets was the photo ops they provided.

    ***Spoiler Alert**
You better not go on the monorail or the train then, and don't go on really busy days 'cause after the fireworks sometimes they send you through the backstage area of main St.

If that were the case, there'd be quite an amount of rides closed now.

I don't know if they were Skyway shots or not, but the park was open. Look at the parking lot, lots of cars, people in Tomorrowland, and the People Mover cars usually bunched up, which is why kids tried jumping from one car to the next.
If you see a cute yellow lab puppy with a yellow cape, WAVE! It might be us! (Or it may be someone else that lurks here!) Thank you for asking before you pet! Next trip, Dec 22-Jan 3rd.

Sorry, we never an airplane. so no to ariel photography. Those were taken by either me or my father from the skyway. The Peoplemover cars always bunched up like that on that first part. area.

I think you might be mistaken. Those pics do appear to be pretty high up even for the skyway.

And no, Peoplemover cars are not bunched up like that when they are open.

Then again, maybe I am all wet

Also, even though there are a few cars in the Parking lot, to me it appears to be a good hour or two before opening.

Those shots look like they were taken from the top of the Matterhorn.
