While watching the awesome "Remember ..." fireworks show, I couldn't help but notice the amount of smoke and strong odor they produce. I began wonder, how bad for the environment are the fireworks?
Now, I know it's a hot button item in politics this year, but Global Warming is not anything new. I was born in 1982 and I'm from Los Angeles, so I've heard about the dangers of smog and the depletion of the Ozone layer since I was born. It just struck me that firework shows must take a toll on our atmosphere. I can't imagine that those nebular vapors released by these explosions just dissipate into an innocuous cloud of nothing. I did a little research and couldn't find a definitive study (except for one regarding toxic perchlorate levels in lakes after July 4th firework displays), but what I did find merely stated that there is a link between fireworks and atmospheric pollution.
Maybe Disney uses some sort of eco-safe (if such a thing even exists) fireworks? I did find this article which says Disney developed more environmentally sound propulsion methods, but it says nothing of the fireworks themselves.
Anyone have some insight to share?
