Re: Fantasyland Skyway Station, what to make it next?

No what you don't understand is that in the Fantasy Skyway bucket building that is where there bed, water, and day time snacks are... Yes they rome the entire park all the time... but during the day when there are guests in the park most of them are actually in that building... It is NOT an empting building...

If they're not going to bring back the Skyway then they should make it a BoomBoom Room.

Just add a loop. That's it. Nothing else. No coaster, no car. Just a loop.

    >>Make it a Mary Poppins cafe, penguin waiters, mary and bert, a bridge and the supercalifragilistic band from the horse races can go up there, outdoor tables and tea.<<

Nope. That great idea goes in the Carnation Plaza Gardens area! ; )

But there are plenty of 'outs' to why a place does not have to be ADA accessible.

The ADA thing gets thrown around here way too much. EVERY place does NOT have to be accessible... especially when it comes to retrofitting and upgrades. When you can show its not feasible to do so, you don't have to be accessible for instance.

Most people spend the extra money or put procedures in place to be accessible because its 'insurance'. Its better to be safe, then have to fight a potentially costly legal battle later.

    From Wikipedia:
Under Title III, no individual may be discriminated against on the basis of disability with regards to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, or accommodations of any place of public accommodation by any person who owns, leases (or leases to), or operates a place of public accommodation. "Public accommodations" include most places of lodging (such as inns and hotels), recreation, transportation, education, and dining, along with stores, care providers, and places of public displays, among other things.

So if they were to just reopen the station with no changes then they would be fine AKA The Subs but, any changes to the building would eliminate it's grandfather status and it would have to be ADA compliant.

    Hope that helps.

Now, about the skyway area, they should put the entrance for the Little Mermaid ride there and have the ride it self where the FL theatre is now.

Seems like I'm repeating this every other day... there is NO "grandfather clause" in the ADA!!!

Not entirely correct. When you can show it is not feasible for you to alter an existing structure you must still provide alternative accommodations, such what was done with the Subs. Only buildings with some sort of historical designation can be exempt (and even then they're not automatically exempt from the law).
