Yep. The didn't just sit there. They swam around the lagoon every so often and even swam up to the portholes of the subs underwater all the time.

Something unthinkable in today's lawsuit-happy/safety-obsessed society. What with a person swimming with limited mobility/control flippers around a real churning propeller!

But back then it was just, "Hey girls...stay clear of the prop...you got that?"

    Thanks for the pics!

Nice to see The Carousel of Progress back there and the speed ramps up to the Monorail as well.

Is the PeopleMover 101 ?? I can't make out any riders and I recall they had a LOT of downtime in the beginning.

Thanks for sharing and start looking in old shoeboxes for more!

Considering my mom took that photo almost 40 years ago.... I have no idea.

Thanks for sharing and start looking in old shoeboxes for more!
Sadly, those are the only photos she took at Disneyland on that trip. I think she only went there one day and spent the rest of her week out there with her uncle (he lived in Downey at the time).

But... I did ask my mom to go through the old photo albums and dig out the pics from my visits to Disneyland in 1986 & 1989 as well as several WDW trips that started in 1978. Actually, I have the '78 WDW photos and posted them in the WDW forum a few weeks ago. I didn't have a scanner yet so I took pics of the pics with my digital camera. I scanned them in tonight (and my scanner has this neat feature that restores faded color to old photos). I might post them again soon as I deleted the others from my Photobucket account.

Yeah. The mermaids were waaaaaay before my time. That would be cool to see that now, but like you said. In this society, I don't see that happening any time soon, if not ever.

Aimster - thanks for the great photos. 1967 was a "year of wonder" for an 11-year kid who got to go to the park twice that summer.

    Wish I'd taken pictures.

If we only knew then what we know now, right???

And if onloy my Mom hadn't thrown out my Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale baseball cards...

I'd be saving on therapy bills, now.

I assume that's what the big slanted ramp in the first photo is? I was trying to figure that out... Were they escalators, or moving sidewalks, or...?
