I finally got a scanner, so I wanted to share these. They're from my mom's visit to Disneyland back in August 1967 (sorry they're kinda big):
ahhh the mermaids, way before my time! I heard they were taken out because of guys diving into the lagoon after them
"Happiness is a Low Water Level" "Creating magical memories and making Managers cry since 1955!"
These are great but they really make me miss the skyway and people mover.
It took me awhile to figure out who the people in the water were.. but Tech's post reminded me that there used to be mermaids there..
Thanks for sharing the pictures!
DISNEYLAND: It even makes science geeks look cool!!
That's cool. I was born in August of 1967!!!
I think the Mermaids were removed because of the Diesel fuel buildup causing skin reactions.

Kenny - welcome to the 40 club!! I'm a couple months ahead of you. Whaaa! 1967 was a very good year for Tomorrowland... (Love the video by the way)
Those mermaids look like they are treading water.
When attractions were original
When you wrote a "couple" I didn't think you meant literally but they're still very neat.
Now, I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic!
The angle of the Skyway Bucket entering the Matterhorn gives it the appearance of traveling at breakneck speed. Wiiiiiiiii! (Ok, not breakneck but faster than they used to go.)
What time is the 3 o'clock parade? http://www.myspace.com/pduliere
Very cool! I wish that they still had the mermaids....
It's sad the mermaids were taken out, that kinds sounds like it would be a fun job! Aside from the always being wet, skin irritation, and jumping guys, of course.
Disney has ruined my love life

Thats awsome, i love seeing guest taken old photos.
Very kewl! Thanks for sharing.
i miss the skyway
bring back the skyway immediately. if people want to jump off of them let them but have a sign in the sky bucket in english and spanish saying we are not reliable for anybody jumping because you are not technically not in Disneyland. Too bad
