I say Great, because while DCA is no Disneyland, it most definitely rates higher in my book than knott's or universal studios, imo.

See, IMHO, here is the ratings I give SoCal parks...

We both have Knott's, USH, and Six Flags AP/SP's. I have a SeaWorld AP and can get DM in for free, we are going there next weekend.

The one park I would say I wouldn't prefer to DCA is LEGOLAND, but for families with younger children (say 4 to 12) I would recommend it over DCA....

My ratings of the SoCal parks..

    1. Disneyland
    2. Universal Studios Hollywood
    3. Knott's Berry Farm
    4. Six Flags Magic Mountain (might be rated higher if closer to Orange County, and in a cooler location during summer)
    5. SeaWorld San Diego
    6. (tie) DCA
    6. (tie) Knott's Soak City - Orange County
    8. LEGOLAND

FYI, both Deogge's Mom and myself both have Knott's, USH, and Six Flags AP/SP's. I have a SeaWorld AP and can get DM in for free.

I think I'm as much into parks as Darkbeer, here is how I would rank the SoCal parks:

    1. Disneyland
    2. DCA (I guess I'm one of the few who REALLY like this park)
    3. Sea World San Diego
    4. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor (A really good Water park IMO)
    5. Six Flags Magic Mountain
    6. Universal Studios Hollywood
    7. Legoland (Even though they pissed me off, I still think this is a great park)
    8. Knott's Berry Farm (would have been #2 a few years ago, but any park that I only feel the need to visit once a year can't be higher than this)
    9. Castle Park (Came REALLY close to beating Knott's. If they get their rumored woodie it will climb up at least a few spots)

DCA does not offer enough to make it worth to spend a day there...as it has been reported here before, the gems at DCA include: Soarin' over CA, Screamin', Tower of Terror, and the Aladdin Stage Show. period. Not enough for the $$$ in my estimation. And, if I have just a day to spend, gee, let's see...where would I rather be????!!! I'm going to Disneyland!

    I think it's great!
It's a laid back park, and if you accept that it is NOT DL, it's not a bad place to hang out.

I've been on numerous occasions and I have to say that every time I go, I really enjoy myself.

My favorite place is the animation studio. It's amazing in there.

All I know is on our last visit we spent pretty much all day on Saturday at DCA. Had a fantastic time. The only time we went to DL was to see the Fireworks show.

The next day we spent 3 hours at DL and went back to DCA.

It just seems alot more stress-free these days, and like was said above, laid-back.

If you can't accept it for what it is, don't go. Makes it less busy for those of us who actually like the park.

I'd rate DCA as good. It's not great. Not just OK. It really does have some very nice attributes:

    Soarin' is wonderful.
Grizzly River Run is lots of wet fun.
Redwood Creek is really a lot of family fun.
CA Screamin' is a fun coaster.
    ToT is fun
The Animation Building is THE BEST!
The Aladdin Show is great fun.
The food is better than Disneyland.
It has a ton of potential.

Yup... it has a ton of improvement to do, but it's still a good place to play.

    Mine would be:

    1. Disneyland
    2. Universal Studios Hollywood
    3. DCA
    4. Knott's Berry Farm
    5. Six Flags Magic Mountain
    6. SeaWorld San Diego
    7. Knott's Soak City
    8. LEGOLAND

Legoland really sucks, it's for little kids aged 3-12 and there's basically very little for adults to do. The staff are mostly teenagers who really don't want to be there and the tickets are very expensive for what you get. I worked a few blocks from it and I can tell you that Carlsbad is not a fun drive either. Thankfully Legoland is right off the I-5 exit, but any farther into Carlsbad (especially San Marcos), and you're risking a nightmare of frustration. It's no wonder they've already had to sell the Legoland theme park in California.

Unlike Disneyland, Knott's and Universal; Legoland is situated in a somewhat surburban area that was never intended to have more than a few cars on the road at any given time. Carlsbad was a relatively small beach community before Legoland, and those roads haven't changed at all since the population exploded after Legoland. It's become an absolute nightmare to get in or out of the city since there's really only 3 (maybe 4) ways in or out and they are ALL gridlocked during rush hour.

Legoland was really smart to put their entrance right off the Canon exit off the I-5. Any farther than that off Palomar Airport Road will give you traffic fits.
