    Angry Military Homecoming AT DISNEYLAND

I'm putting this up mainly because I am not a gold member and am unable to read the previous post that was moved. I'm not entirely sure why it was moved because I believe it specifically asked about having a Military homecoming at DISNEYLAND... could be wrong it wasn't on here long.

I'm a Vet, seen it, done it. I think it is not only sad, it is pathetic that Disney prides itself in being #1 in the amusement park industry and yet Knott's is the one that gives Vet's free admission for Vets promotional. I've been in the Disneyland Vets parade... twice... hoping the second time it would be better then the first...it wasn't. I don't care how you stand politically, the Armed Service is there, fighting for us, and frankly they deserve better. I made this a poll as well but I wanted everyone else's opinion on this. Should there be a Disneyland Homecoming for the troops? Should there be a Vets promotional? and basically what does everyone think?

I'm for it. Retired Air force myself, and have a son in law currently based at Ft Irwin.

Oh great, another thread which will turn into a debate...just like the last one about Disneyland and the military. Anyway, I think they should.

Yes, it should. What happened to the last thread?

Thumbs down Re: Military Homecoming AT DISNEYLAND

This topic is a contentious debate and it got moved for good reason. There is no purpose for this new thread. Been there, done that. If there are folks who want to continue on with this, they should go Gold and revisit the first edition of this thread.

Pretty much the way it happened.

MiceChat is an entertainment centered board. While most subjects may be discussed in our various community lounges, we discourage the discussion of politics and religion. Threads which turn to these two topics or become in other ways heated will be moved to the "Litter Box" or MiceChat Gold's "Debate Lounge" (and are also subject to being closed).
It was only because the last thread moved so fast that it stayed out here as long as it did. And the very first time this one has anything political or heated posted.... it will either be locked and litterboxed or sent to the same place.

Disneyland is about as American as apple pie. On the 4th of July (today), immigrants became citizens in WDW. Superbowl winners get to have a parade in DL, so why not veterans?!

Former 10th Mtn 2/22 here as well and yes, they should be given free admission, at the very least.

As I stated openly this is not a political statement or post. If one choses to make it political then it will be a loss for those who are not gold members. I do not care which side you are on, in many ways I feel this topic transcends to both sides. It is support of our troops, support of those who fight for our freedom and sacrifice so we do not have to... I can't THINK of anything more American than that.

If this is moved I would understand, if it is placed in the litterbox because of the actions of a few I would also understand. However I hope I do not receive ANY repercussions. As I have stated openly this is not a debate nor is it a political statement. It is a simple yes or no, a poll. If you wish to leave a post please be responsible and realize that this can disappear just as quickly as it was posted. The poll does not list names and it is multiple. This was done to protect the integrity of the vote, so you may vote with confidence.

I think it would be nice to honor them. They are the people who really help make this country great.

There is no reason for politics to enter into this discussion because military personnel are not responsible for the decisions that the civilian leadership makes.

I will not make this into an argument (again) but it's a big N-O.

Not sure how they could celebrate each vet coming home from war. My dad served 20 years in the Army, so, I have the utmost respect for our service people. I think Veteran's day would be a good example of a day when DL SHOULD do something special for vets. Generally speaking though, I don't see it happening & not sure it should happen.
