Call to Arms: Midway Games leaving!

ok, i kinda thread-title jacked the other one, but its true.

Midway Games are gone as of Sunday.

now I know ALOT of you will be happy to see them gone, but honestly they were THE best place to work in the entire resort.

rumor I'm hearing now is that Reboundo will still remain for the time being, but the others will be closed to make room for Astro Blas-...er, I mean Midway Mania.

anyhoo, didnt see any thread on it so far, so...you heard it here first!

Were they the best place to work because nobody went to them? Sounds like an easy way to make $8.25 an hour - doing nothing.

Anyway, they're going to be removed for good? I hadn't heard anything about them actually leaving, just that they were being closed for an indefinate about of time. It was unclear if they were just getting rethemed/refurbed for Midway Mania, or if they were being removed. If they are leaving for good, then good riddance.

Working a job where you do nothing is way worse than being busy.

And yay for the games being removed!

The original reopening date we were given was in late October. Now since it was delayed a couple of weeks they will probably come back in November.

I think the games would have been cool if you got, say, one free play with your admission, like punching a hole in your ticket or somesuch. People would feel they got more value (and actually *play* the games) and the side effect would probably be more $$ coming in because if you don't win on your free try, you may just be sucked in enough to try again. I just had a problem with having such a prominent "attraction" be one that you have to pay additional $ once you are in the park. Especially shyster carnie games

Yeah They are going! It made DCA feel cheap, like a sad version of a carny that wanted to be a great theme park.

Sadly, that is how I felt about them too.

We never played any of them. Too many thoughts of low-life carnie barkers shouting at you as you walked by. And then when you didn't play, they insulted you and sometimes your mother...

I'm not saying that is what the CM's at DCA did (I know they never would), just the rep that they took on by having those carnival games there. Anyone that has been to a state or county fair knows what I am talking about.

I'm glad to see the "low-rent" district of DCA removed.

Reminded me too much of Magic Mountain. Glad to see 'em go.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Since you kinda get to play the games anyways in the Midway Mania attraction when it opens, the midway games seem kinda superfluous anyways.

Good riddance. Now, if they could just get rid of the
rest of the horrible pier theme.

We liked some of them and the last few times we went there were people crowding around the games. I don't care if they stay or go though.
