Pregnant at Disneyland!

We've just received the wonderful news that we are going to have our first baby!

I'd like to compile the most pregnancy-friendly trip ideas here. It's currently a blackout season for us, but we are planning on going as soon (and as often) as possible once the restriction is lifted (she got her pass just before blackout season and we've only gone together twice).

Are there any amenities for pregnant women in the parks? Any special buttons or pins? Any special moments from your own pregnancies that you'd like to share. Any attractions in particular to avoid?

Congratulations.

But be aware that by the time your passes are good again there will be a large number of rides that will be off-limits - according to rider recommendations that are posted.

Stick to the slow stuff and especially the low-G ones. Restraints will also be an issue either because of size or risk to the uterus and fetus.

Make sure she checks out any plans and intentions with her ob-gyn.

At first, it won't be an issue...just stay off of the fast rides. I was totally bummed that I couldn't do Space!! But, as she gets bigger, just like the last poster said, restraints become an issue. At that point, even some ofthe slow rides are hard to get on and off of. I had a seriously hard time with Alice and Peter Pan. By the end, it was a great walk for me, and we basically went (we had AP's...and I had an April baby) to get my fix of clam chowder from the French Market and ride the train and see my CM buddies. We did a LOT of IASW, storybook and other slow places.
I never had any buttons, but quickly found out where the bathrooms were!
I'll tell you, it was nice to explore the slower rides and things that my husband and I didn't really explore when I wasn't pregnant. Even over at DCA, we did a lot of Muppets (that's one of our favorites) and did a lot of just wandering.

best advice? Just take it easy...and WATCH THE RESTRAINT BARS!

Listen to your body. If you feel tired, sit for a while. If you suddenly feel unsure of a ride, don't go on it. I went to see the "Glowing Away Forever" campaign when I was 7-8 months pregnant. The only ride that I almost had a problem boarding was Pirates. The CM tried to tell me I couldn't ride. I told her that it would be fine, and it was. It was too crowded to ride much, so we did a lot of walking and sitting. I did almost toss my cookies in the Circle Vision Theater, made me very dizzy and sick, but that was the only "ick' moment.

I went to DL when I was pregnant with my daughter. It was a great time, and there are really only a few rides you should avoid. You can go on pretty much anything (besides the obvious toughies like Space Mountain, Big Thunder, the Matterhorn). My biggest problem was walking around for so many hours made me extremely tired and kind of cranky.

I'd think that you could pretty much do all the kiddie rides and have a fun time just walking around, enjoying the park, enjoying the parades and fireworks, etc.

Congrats!!!!!! My advice is to just take it easy! I found when I was pregnant everything wore me out much faster than I expected it to. Take lots of pictures of your wife's belly so you can show your kid when they are bigger there first trips to Disneyland!

My sister and I both went last summer as pregnant ladies both at around 4 months and also about 8 months. To be honest, when I was 4-5 months pregnant, I went on the Matterhorn because of the soft restraint belt (not a bar) and also on ToT. Sounds horrible but let me tell you this. It was my 4th baby, I know my body and my great grandmother used to ride horses up til her due date so I figure, if it's up and down and I put my lap belt under my belly, I'll be fine.

8 months pregnant was an entirely different story...ugh. Can you say painful feet? Make sure you both take it easy and keep the fluids going because dehydration causes premature contractions. IASW and Fantasyland in general will become your best friends. OH! Jungle Cruise was also wonderful...so relaxing, I actually had a CM/guide on there let me stay on the boat for 4 cruises in a row since climbing out of those darn things can get tricky.
