What is your favorite non DLR hotel in Anaheim?

I've tried a few and some I love , some I like and some I will never stay at again.

I'm thinking of trying one more that I 've never tried before so I'm looking for some ideas.

I'm planning to love the Anaheim Fairfield Inn in October. After reading about a billion (recent) hotel reviews, they scored near the top.

Carousel Inn, Camelot Inn, Desert Inn, and if it wasn't for the walk and the A/C issue, Anabella.

Ramada Plaza. Good rooms (3 AAA diamond), close walk (5-10 minutes), cheap price ($70 for a room in late December).
    Love WoC!!!

    Next DL trip: August 2011

I've stayed at a lot of the hotels across on harbor and all the disney hotels and non are as nice as the hotels up further on harbor. Yes you will have to drive or take the shuttle, but it's only 5 to 10 minutes away. The two that stand out in my mind are the crowne plaza and the hyatt. Both were very nice and comfortable hotels. The marriott was also nice and the hilton was pretty good.

Hyatt. Most comfortable beds. You have to take a shuttle, but that always gave us a break from the heat/crowds. Quiet place.

Candy Cane Inn. Free breakfast, timely shuttle to and from the park, courteous staff and comfy accomodations.

It's been a few years but I have stayed there. I guess it was ok in that I don't remember anything negative about it.

More recently I've stayed at the Hilton-Convention Center-(you know how when you stay at the Disneyland Hotel you feel like you're still in Disneyland....well, the Hilton is the same way except you feel like you've never left the airport ) Otherwise, it's a pretty nice place to stay but the Sheraton next door is even nicer and doesn't have the airport like feeling.

I've also stayed at the Clarion(ok), The Howard Johnson(ok+), and the Motel Six in Buena Park(not terrible).

I'll rank the places I've stayed at going back to 1979 and will include(for comparison purposes) The Disneyland and Grand Californian:

    • Grand Californian(****)
    • Disneyland Hotel(****)
    • Inn at the Park(now Sheraton)(****)
    • Howard Johnson(***)
    • Coast Hotel(now Sheraton)(***)
    • Hilton Towers(***)
    • Clarion(***)
    • Fairfield(***)
    • Motel 6(*)

Sheraton Anaheim. Love it. It's gorgeous, the rooms are nice and the staff is great.

To steal the idea from Sleepyjeff(from present back to 1991)

    • GCH-****
    • DLH-****
    • Sheraton Anaheim-***(would be * if it was closer)
    • Embassy Suites South-***(would be 4* if it was closer)
    • Hilton Suites-***
    • Camelot Inn-***
    • Carousel Inn(the suites)-***
    • HoJo's-***
    • Best Western Park Place Inn-***
    • Carousel Inn(basic room)**
    • Tropicana -**
    • Fairfield-*
    • Desert Inn & Suites-*
    • Desert Palm-*(BUT, I've heard great things since they remodeled
    • Clarion-*
    • Best Value Inn & suites-*(huge rooms, horrible location)
    • Alpine Inn-*
    • Castle Inn & Suites-not even one star, I won't go back

Our favorites have been the Candy Cane Inn, Hilton Towers, Crowne Plaza, and the Marriott. Those that are OK have been the Hojo, Clarion and Jolly Roger. I would not recommend the Islander and Castle Inn. I have heard that the Portofino is a good place to stay if you have kids.

Best Western Stovalls. It is on Katella and it is just down the street from the Disneyland Hotel. We have stayed there 8 out of the 10 times that i have been to disneyland. The only reason we didn't cause they were booked. It has a great restaurant on the corner. Coco's and we swear by it.
