I don't think it matters, as long as they celebrate the birthday period. It's not like Walt would be turning in is grave or upset about it being one day early.

The next anniversary to be celebrated will likely be number 60.

maybe we'll be lucky and they will give people buttons celebrating the birthdays. i know the CMs will be getting buttons to wear that day and seeing that i dont work that day, i am hoping either they give them out to the public as well like in past years or i can go to dca and talk my lead into giving me one anyway. they know how big a fan i am of disney.

The dedication plaque says July 17, 1955.

And it's the day Walt 1st gaye the dedication speech
and the day of the telecast.

Since the 30th they have had a celebration every five years.
I have the eratica to prove it.

When is the official DCA opening day, the first preview in January, or the first day it opened to the general public on February 8th, 2001?

A Preview is not an official opening.
What day was it dedicated Dave?

Considering the Disney Marketing Machine... most likely

Think someone else already addressed this but since the 25th it's been every 5!

17th, 18th same difference... and considering the "media only" event was crashed by the public who decided to go with counterfeit tickets or just hop the fence I would lean more towards the 17th. Legal or not... the public was in the park.

    Walt did it twice.

    Once for TV on Sunday.

Then the "for real" on Monday morning, shortly after 10 AM, when the gates opened to the public.

In fact, most of the photos of the Dedication are from the Monday event, as they were trying to keep the area clear for TV on Sunday.

Does it really matter? Does it make any difference at all which day we celebrate it? 17th or 18th... either way it opened in July 1955 and has been around almost 52 years. Sure it's had ups, and downs, but it's still there and no matter how hard corporate has tried to ruin it.. it's still DISNEYland, named after the genius who inspired it, and existing as a constant reminder of the good people can do.

Thank you so much for saying that!! We all have our own opinion about the 17th or the 18th. Disneyland is the happiest place on earth!! Why do we need to argue over one day?

we may all have an opinion, but only one opinion is right in this subject.

For the record, all opinions are correct one way or the other.
