    Discovery Bay

This might already be a thread, but could Discovery Bay ever become a reality? It seems like it is a good idea, to finally put Matterhorn into a land it belongs it. It also would open up space (by taking out Autopia) to put in a Journey To The Center Of The Earth.

Discovery Bay at Disneyland would just be a sad, sad, shell of it's TDS glory. Besides, they'd never take out Auto.

It would be nice, since they seriously started Imagineering Discovery Bay in the 1980s. Some semblance of it is in both TDL and DLP, though.

I always thought tying in Matterhorn, the Subs and the Autopia area (when the contract runs out) would be a nice place for a land.

Discovery bay was going to go in the space behind big thunder mt not by the matterhorn. And I think it would fit perfectly in DCA because it has a california theme already.

Wow, really? It would be awesome if it was an actual land...

Tokyo DisneySea is what Discovery Bay ultimately became, after the idea was killed off in Long Beach. The Disneyland Resort is planning to build a third themepark, along with a water park, starting in 2010, if not before. This new gate will likely be a cross between Tokyo DisneySea and Epcot. Both it and the water park will probably be located on strawberry field property in Anaheim near Disneyland. So, in a sense, part of Discovert Bay is destined to become a reality.

You mean Long Beach, not Long Island?

Yes, Long Beach. I think that's what he meant.

2010? How far away is that from 2005?

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about Discovery Bay - - as a new landlet to run behind Big Thunder BBQ all the way to Tomorrowland. The main feature of the new area would be its huge bay of water, and the main purpose of the new area would be to have a home for Fantasmic so that Frontierland could be returned to Disneyland as an actual land for guests' enjoyment after sundown.

There would be channel for the Twain and the Columbia to travel from the RoA to DB for the show. And the huge body of water at the back of the park would allow for even more stunning fireworks that are best performed over non-flammable liquid.

The location of Discovery Bay would require that ToonTown be sunken underwater. No great loss. And quite a trade; regaining all of Frontierland by losing useless ToonTown.

How about DCA? Wasn't Toon Town Hollywood adjacent?

Exactly. ToonTown would not really be sunk, it would be moved to DCA as the only thing built there to fit the California theme since opening!!!
