Re: If HISTA was taken out, which of these attractions would you put in its place?

Alien Encounter would be AWESOME!!! Never been there (never been to WDW before) but I've seen a video of it on youtube, and I think if they made it even SCARIER... that'd be awesome. I agree with Alien Encounter 5-D, that's cool!!!

Featuring scary alien animatronics, sound effects, physical effects (water, puffs of air, etc.), moving seats... Hey! What if the alien messed with the electricity, and went underground, and the theater started shaking, so the seats individually tilted and twisted!! That would be jaw-dropping cool.

Otherwise, theme-wise, HISTA is about shrinking, and I'd love to see an updated Adventure thru Inner Space. But maybe updated would mean getting rid of the omnimover system it used to have... what if it was a thrill ride? Coooooooooool.

Meet the Robinsons would be cool as long as there was no 3D. I went to an Imax with super-clear 3D, and the objects were so close it hurt my eyes. DON'T DO 3D!! Dark ride based on Meet the Robinsons in the tiny space HISTA takes up would be cool, and futuristic.

Mission:SPACE? No. Nonononononono. We have Space Mountain and Star Tours, both being trips to outer space. ANOTHER trip to space? As awesome as the ride looks, I think it'd be more useful if it went back to its old home (Pizza Port)... why doesn't anybody ever talk about tearing down the Pizza Port? Why always aim for HISTA and Innoventions, when you've got Starcade and Pizza Port to rip up and replace with attractions?

Personally I'd like to see some sort of a time travel ride. (No, I'm not talking about a rip off of Back To The Future.)

It would be cool to have some sort of dark ride that takes you from the present day all the way into the year 5000. Maybe start off by going through a vortex similar to that of Stargate.

like the ride at knotts berry farm! it closed several years ago but it was so funny. I cant remember what it was called but it was in the far upper left corner of the park by the ice rink show and the bumper cars and perilous plunge and the nickel arcade (closed too i think)

Like the Timekeeper? (MILF replaced it at WDW)

Wish I could've seen it...

Not sure. I've never been to WDW so I have no clue. If my idea is similar to what Timekeeper was then I supposed I'd have to say yes to your question.

Re: If HISTA was taken out, which of these attractions would you put in its place?

I voted for Mission: Space, but I want to change my vote. Can someone change it for me? I'd prefer something else different, like an updated Adventure Thru Inner Space, which I think could be really cool. Mission:Space looks fine as it is, but if it won't fit in that area, then the area should be used for something else.

Although I'm also game for a return of the Space Stage. As long as they also bring back the Kids of the Kingdom and their wonderful brand of Disneyesque corn -

Well, I have to agree. Although Pizza Port is a good dining option (the food's pretty good and it's filling and it's not that expensive, all winners in my book), it's true that it's really taking up space where an attraction should be.

Personally, I never got tired of the original Flight to the Moon/Mission to Mars attraction, and would love to see an updated version of the attraction there, using newer technology, of course. Wouldn't have to be Mission: Space, exactly, either, given the dimensional constraints. Maybe either a newer Mission to Mars (since there still hasn't been a manned mission to the red planet, 30+ years later), or possibly a Voyage to Jupiter or Saturn and Beyond or some of the other planets, but something hard-science related. With Star Tours and Space Mountain you might have thrills, but there's no educational element to it, and that was always, to me, one of the highlights of going to Disneyland - that I'd have fun and learn something at the same time.

Now I understand that you may think "but it's another trip to space." True, it is, but Star Tours is a total space fantasy, and Space Mountain is non-descript but leans toward the fantasy element as well. Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters is also space-based, somewhat, but again, its story is told within a fantasy setting. An updated Mission to Mars, as well as an updated Adventures Thru Inner Space, would reintroduce the hard science story element that's been missing from Tomorrowland for far too long (and which Innoventions only vaguely promoted).

Walt Disney was known for his futurist views and showed the American public through his television shows how the world was moving into the future, and Tomorrowland was the realistic culmination of his views. In his own words:
Quote:
"Tomorrow can be a wonderful age. Our scientists today are opening the doors of the Space Age to achievements that will benefit our children and generations to come. The Tomorrowland attractions have been designed to give you an opportunity to participate in adventures that are a living blueprint of our future."
I think that has been too easily forgotten. The futurist and scientific element needs to be reintroduced back into Tomorrowland.

They need to rebuild the House of the Future, too, a real display of futuristic, cutting-edge housing design. Maybe get Ty Pennington of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to do the narration of it or something.

I mean, There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow should be the overriding theme of Tomorrowland, right? High speed roller coasters and flight simulators don't really inspire that sentiment, and that's what Tomorrowland needs to do again - INSPIRE.

I say use the innoventions building for a two story version of Mission:space. They can then have twice as many spinners than the epcot version. HISTA is too small for an actual ride, instead just put in a WALL*E 3D movie or Alien Encounter (minus Stitch)

Re: If HISTA was taken out, which of these attractions would you put in its place?

Here are a few reasons why I really like the idea of an updated ATIS.

1. It's a Disneyland Original. Alien Encounter and Mission Space started elsewhere. Let's try and keep Dland original.

2. Technology could really make it special. For as hokey ATIS was, for a youngster it was very convincing, I thought I was shrinking. When I grew older, the science part of it facinated me. Fast forward 30 years later, we have learned so much more about molecules and now have technology to make it a totally immersive ride.

3. Forget alien encounter. I went on that ride in Florida and is scared the living crap out of my 9 year old cousin. So you would have 2 options. Bring it as is and not be very family friendly or tame it down and make it flat out boring. From personal experiance, I wouldn't ride it more than once.

4. It wouldn't take too much space. Take out HISTA and the top floor of the Starcare and you'd have enough room to make a ride that would fit the tomorrowland theme more than the past few rides (Subs, BLAB, HISTA).

Those are a few reasons why I think ATIS would fit best. Any thoughts?

1. I like your idea. If they really spruced up an old attraction, everyone is happy.

2. Sounds awesome, though I never went on ATIS.

3. This is where I dont agree with you. Dinseyland is supposed to have experiences for people of all ages. We have seen lots of "kids-only" stuff in the Park (Toon Town, Bugs Land, etc.) If Dinsey is going to shy away from making thrilling and actually scary attractions just so your little cousin can go on it, weve reached a problem. If you look at the list of what everyone considers an E-Ticket Dinseyland attraction, most of those rides are thrill rides, whether on a small or large scale.

Im not saying all great rides are scary either; if Im going to have to go on some wonderful attraction, it dosent matter how scary it is, as long as the effort was put in. Alien Encounter may not be for your cousin, but I sure as heck would love to go on it. Not everything in Disneyland can be family friendly. Toon Town sure isnt. Bugs Land sure isnt. Not every family going to Disneyland is full of children in the 2-9 age. I may have a 7 year old sister, but I not really going to feel that bad for her if she cant go on one ride when she gets to enjoy hundreds of rides that are tailor made for her age.

Mission Space, I am so tired of people asking for WDW hand me downs, thats the problem with Tomorrowland to begin with, no originality, Nothing in it anymore besides Star Tours and the Autopia was an original Idea. Innoventions, BLAB, HISTA, the stupid 98 refurb, and now people are asking for more unoriginal crasp from WDW. How does anyone expect for that area of the park to improve without some real attempt at Imagineering and not just cut and pasting more rides from other parks that dont fit together. Tomorrowland dont people get that, not toys, not bad 80s movies, not crap you can buy at BestBuy, not what colors people from 150 years ago thought were futuristic, the future! IT TAKES SOME IMAGINATION AND FORE THOUGHT i KNOW BUT WHY IS THAT SO HARD Even this poll has no new or imaginative ideas, stop side stepping Tomorrowland

I would like
ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter

It's no longer at WDW, so why not...

besides it was supposed to be here anyway.

(Don't ask me for a link on that I read it when the new Tomorrowland at DL opened in the local newspaper. Can someone prove that I'm not crazy.)
