Re: If HISTA was taken out, which of these attractions would you put in its place?

id realy like to get alien encounter(stitch kinda sucked and ive never been on AE and i know from a million reviews that it was awsome)-at first i thought"oh that would be a nice place for phillar magic"(sp)but now i realize that it dosn't fit and would even depen tommorowlands identity crisis(it can be fitted into toon town. so overall i'd put either mission space or AE in HISTA place and since AE isn't child appropriate i'd put on a seasonal overlay to become the stitch thing or a more kid friendly version of AE. and also AE and MS could both be fitted in either innoventions or HISTA(like MS would be in innoventions while AE is in HISTA or switched[i like it either way])

i hope no one already posted something like this because i didn't realy read anything on this thread

If they are going to take HISTA out, let's put something in there that is actually going to be unique from the other parks. I'm not interested in something that's "popular" at WDW, because that would bring me to WDW, not Disneyland.

Part of the problem with WDI is the "cookie-cutter" concept of putting the same (or similarly based) attractions in all of the parks. Part of the alure of going to DLR as opposed to going to WDW is experiencing attractions you can't get anywhere else.

Yes, there can be some similar attractions, but not all of them. DLR needs something different that isn't presented at all in the other parks.

Given that it's Tomorrowland, what kind of new technologies and achievements has mankind had in the last few years? Nanotechnology, Space Ship One getting the X-Prize, the new breakthroughs in prosthetic limbs - given that the AA developed by Disney were the major jumping point for it. US Astronauts and Russian Cosmonauts working together at a space station...the list could go on. Why limit ourselves with what WDW already has?
true and your totally right... wait dont those both mean the same thing

although i agree we still need some things that WDW has like..ok i realy don't wan't to make a long list now. jk

I think there is the appeal to have things that WDW has brought to DLR, the problem is that WDW has more acreage than DLR as far as they can expand out. DLR is somewhat land-locked. The real limitations to include new and WDW copies is where to put everything.

Again, though, I want attractions at DLR that are unique to only DLR, not the other parks. Going on a copied ride only makes me wonder what's at the other park, that ride and more, that isn't here.

Each park should be it's own entity. This business of running every park as though they were carbon copies is bad business, especially in the travel industry, as Jay Rasulo should already understand. Successful destination points thrive due to the unique nature of that destination, whether it is the location, the history, or a combination of factors.

Running cookie-cutter Disney parks works only in the short term. Once people have had enough enjoyment from one park, why bother traveling to the others? It's time Mr. Rasulo wakes up and smells the coffee....

Re: If HISTA was taken out, which of these attractions would you put in its place?

Several things would make me happy.

Seeing the Space Stage come back - the music and lights coming from that area at night really livened up the land.

An updated version of ATIS since it was a favorite of mine as a kid and I have missed it.

My favorite idea is Alien Encounter 5-D, although I like the idea of putting it in the carousel building better. I have to disagree with aashee - I thought it was an extremely repeatable attraction and went on it many times and would love to go on it again – It was easily one of my top five favorite attractions at MK (Stitch, on the other hand, is an embarrassment as far as I'm concerned). Needless to say, I was not happy when they closed AE due to guest complaints from parents who thought it would totally okay to take a pre-teen onto something called "ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter" that had a ton of disclaimers warning people about how intense it was. I also think Disneyland wouldn't have as much of a problem because they have a different audience of mostly locals who are generally better informed then the mostly tourist Florida crowd and know that just because something is at Disneyland doesn't necessarily mean it is for children (Indy for instance).

I don't like the Mission: Space idea because I really dislike that attraction. I am a coaster fan and I've been on plenty of intense, heavy g-force coasters/rides in my time without any problems, but the sensation on Mission: Space made me more uncomfortable then I've ever felt on a ride. I couldn’t wait for it to be over and I will never go on it again (not even to go on the non-movement side since the "show" itself is rather unremarkable). It's kind of a moot point though because there is no way it would fit in either the HISTA or Innovation footprints anyway.

Mission: Space, no thanks. I have ridden both versions and I can say the ride is forgetable. Yet another space ride where something goes wrong and then you're safe. They were giving away surprize FastPasses for it last summer. How great can it be if they have to attach a FastPass for it to a Test Track FastPass? This is just another movie ride, with one version pushing you into the seat back.

No, ANYTHINg but Stitch's Great Escape!! I went to it in WDW and it was dull and boring!!

I totally agree either update HISTA or put in a NEW, ORIGINAL 3D movie!! Believe it or not, there are people out there that LOVE 3D movies!! I prefer Wll - E or Meet the Robinsons - based 3D movie, something recent.

They took them out because they were loud and troublesome.

They would also be almost impossible to built with all the safety concern associated with air driven floating saucers bumping into eachother.

Mission space would also not fit in the small area. Mission was proposed for innoventions a few years back after all the problems and cost overruns the idea faded fast.

Alien encounter was originally designed for Disneyland and was to be located where pizza port is. You could thank a couple imagineers but most especially WDW for disneyland not getting it. Due to the problems they had on opening and then have to close it for a few months to retool the preshow to better communicate the scare factor to guest Disneyland's already gutted mission to mars was turned into Pizza port

But it doesn't fit into TL. The building is far too large to replace HISTA. It would have to replace Starcade, HISTA, Pizza Port, Innoventions, and Space Mountain basially.

I find it so funny that so many are voting for something so absurd. My vote is to install Tokyo Disney Seas inside the HISTA. If Mission Space is an option, I'm sure they can squeeze in something a little larger.

Although it does take place in the future, the idea behind the attraction isn’t that you are taking a futuristic trip into space. It is that you are in a NASA-type training center and you get on a simulator to "train" to be an astronaut - thus getting Disney off the hook for having to do any elaborate show or theming of the vehicles. The "theming" of the simulators is that they are just that - simulators - and you aren't supposed to believe anything more then that.

I wonder how many people who voted for Mission: Space have actually been on it. I have to admit it "sounded" like an exciting attraction to me as well and I really looked forward to going on it, but the actual experience of it, IMHO, was really disappointing and unpleasant. As I said, this attraction has zero repeatability factor for me and that seems to be the overall consensus for regular WDW guests as well. I went last year during Memorial Day weekend - Test Track and Soarin had lines easily over an hour, and I waited less then 5 minutes for Mission: Space. That unenthusiastic response has got to hurt Disney considering how much it cost to build.

What DL really needs (considering the local demographic) is an attraction with a high repeatability factor - something that Mission: Space doesn't have, and neither do most 3D movies (with the exception of possibly Philharmagic, which obviously has no place in Tomorrowland).

A new version of Adventure Thru Inner Space. And make that sucker cutting edge and and future cool. NO CHEAPING OUT on scenery, theme or queue like Wimmpy the Poop, BLAB or Monsters INC.

Adventure Thru Inner Space - - it was the Mansion/Pirates/smallworld of Tomorrowland - - a psychedlic journey into the atom unlike any other storytelling experience at the park!
