So true. Hey, if Disneyland wants to do it on the 17, its probably because thats when they did the TV live show and when most people THINK it opened. We know the first day it opened TO THE PUBLIC was the 18th. But, it was viewed by the public, thru TV on the 17th, so what the hay. I know the true opening day was the 18th, but I will celebrate on the 17th with everyone else there.
If you see a cute yellow lab puppy with a yellow cape, WAVE! It might be us! (Or it may be someone else that lurks here!) Thank you for asking before you pet! Next trip, Dec 22-Jan 3rd.
NO, DL had an "Invitational Press Preview and Dedication" on July 17th, and opened to the Public on July 18th, as all the press articles and publicity material stated!
DCA opened their gates to the Public on February 8th, and had a Dedication Ceremony that morning...
Did you know that Walt re-read the Dedication Speech on Monday, July 18th
Monday was the day that Walt took pictures with the first guests entering the park, and gave them Lifetime Passes due to that fact...
Walt also decided to have the Disneyland opening of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln on July 18th, 1966... I wonder why????
So, again, why are you so obsessed with this July 18 thing? I mean, if you want to celebrate July 18 as Disneyland's birthday, then by all means, go right ahead, but I don't get this need to convert the online Disney community.
