    Re: DCA Budget

The big question is - - Is one billion enough to fix DCA? The park layout has to change to really make the place work and the original designers for some strange reason plopped a show building (Bug's Life) right where the hub should be. Unless Bug's Life and Bugland are removed or moved, I don't see how they will be able to fix the layout so that it has depth and accessibility.

I disagree...the layout isn't the issue, however the themeing and amount of attractions could use a bump. I think the rule would be to add more, and subtract less.

*edit* Although creating a path from TOT to the other area of the park (maybe through Bug's Land) would be really nice.

Well if is less than a billion created that park, so this billion will just expand, and like change the themes and facades, and put in a couple 30 million dollar rides.

Im almost more excited for the hub than anything, old hollywood I think was the plan.

I'm wondering how much they are going to move, and what they are going to re design.

I hope that the clean out the south west corner of the park (except for Screamin and Midway)and eliminate the outside world. I HATE that you can see Anaheim/Gardengrove while in DCA.

I also can see them taking out bugs land to make room for a hub/walkway/shops.

Why do they need a 'hub' to be correct/fixed? Hub isn't the only model.

No, but it is a practical one. Right now, the layout of DCA is a vast runway, tiresome to walk and with few expansive vistas. Most critically, the paths have no circularity or flow to get around, which the park desperately needs. Also, the entrance and plaza are quite shallow and lack drama (or a central icon). Using the expansion/parking area behind the "hub" to create some depth and majesty for this park would greatly enhance the feel of the place and its walkability.

Exactly my thoughts. Keep whats there and good (TOT, Grizzly, Soarin', Screamin', Animation) and totally destroy every mediocre thing in the park thats taking the beauty away from these rides.

Im so excited to see what they are going to do. I already like the park as it is.

    Re: DCA Budget

I think the park flows very well at the current moment. The only part that doesn't flow is the Hollywood/TOT area, although it's exactly the same problem that Critter Country/Splash Mountain has in the other park.

It's almost like a figure 8 at the moment, where can walk up the right side of GRR, through the pier entrance, around the pier down route 66, back past the bay area around the left side of GRR and bugs land and back into Sunshine Plaza.

If they were to connect TOT and Bugs land it would be a perfect flow line.

    Re: DCA Budget

A least they got the budget finalized. First you need the money in place, then you can get creative. It's kinda like qualifying for a $500,000 loan before you know where you want to move.

Either way, it's a step in the right direction for a park that needs something to get people excited.

    ??

The only area that really dead-ends is where ToT is. Paridise pier loops around the water. The front area loops around the Rapids. The wharf area has entrances on 2 sides. Flicks Fair is back in the woods, and I think that is quite appropriate.
