Don't get your hopes up! Those are just AV (Audio Visual) guys getting ready to set up for a "shoot". I know two of them and only one of them is worth talking about, "and thats all I have to say about that."

    Dumb Question Alert!

Sorry, but I am a DLR rookie. What is the people mover? Is it like the thing at the airport that you stand on and it saves you a walk?

Bringing back People Mover would be an increadibly stupid waste of money... I'm goin' with the "placing lights or something for the Space Mt reopening event" long before I accept this is the start of more money down the toilet on an increadibly boring ride that NO ONE ever went on.

People Mover sucked!!!!!!!! Let it rest in the grave.

^ In YOUR OWN OPINION, but I can tell you there are a lot of people out there that beg to differ.. Myself, I kinda sit on the fence over the subject but one things for sure, I like many others out there used to love riding the People mover when everything else was just too crowded. -Not for big ticket thrills but as a chance to relax without having to wait in line forever.

It was also my very first DL ride ever so holds a reasonably special place for me

I wish I could tell what you really think. (Note: in the photo, only 1 car is empty.)

    Re: Peoplemover Track Update!!!

People Mover was such a popular attraction. Yes, it was slow, but it was great in its own kind. I was a fanatic about it, but now, I think it has been put to rest and should stay that way. People nowadays go for the great thrills, and Disneyland posseses a lot of them! I loved Rocket Rods, but with the huge budget Eisner provided, it ended up mounting to nothing. In my opinion, please DO NOT take this the wrong way, I think Disney should consider bringing back Rocket Rods. BUT! Before you argue with me, let me explain my ideas. First off, I know that there is no room for a queue now with Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters taking place. If possible, what I had in mind was to make the Rocket Rods entrance where the empty Radio Disney building stands, and go underground. Then, there would be a Vehicle Shuttle area in the queue where everything is neon and there are model vehicals from the future. The lighting in the area demonstrates a story of some sort, and there is also a projector which tells the future relying with this newly improved Rocket Rods. Now, an elevator can escort Guests into the Loading Dock. Now, the banks to the track must definitely be enforced. And if I had my way, I would also add more onto the track. Even making part of the track swoop down onto the Submarine Lagoon at one point. Even so, if it were indeed possible, I would add a part to the track in which at one point the whole entire vehical swirls around and starts speeding, but backwards! Just an idea I had. I would also include sudden drops, show scenes, lazer effects, neon vehicals that glow at night, sparklers, etc. It is just an idea. A return of the PeopleMover will be sure to please millions of guests. Or a return of Rocket Rods will please those thrill seekers. Whatever happens, I will just be ecstatic to see something running on that rotten track that has dreaded for many long years now. Every one has different opinions. Thank you for your views.

That's what Al has been talking about in his updates. Apparently Matt likes the idea of doing something with the track, and moving the Astro Orbiter back to it's original location. But we have yet to hear of anything been approved. Some are hopeful that an announcement will be made regarding these two items on the 17th, but no one is sure.

Waste of money? Peoplemover was a high-capacity ride and many did ride it. Rocket Rods gained a longer wait, but the ride proved to be fickle. Now with something new, I don't think most people want exactly the old Peoplemover back, nor the exact old Rocket Rods. I think the general concencus is...we want the track to be used for something, and not just sitting there, gaining dust for all eternity. Any individual with a slight imagination could figure out, looking at the visible track in Tommorowland, that it was indeed once used for something, and is not just "there" for the sake of it, as "art".

Anyhow, the track could easily be turned into a new E-ticket ride, with a little imagination and innovation. (Please don't quote Tom Morrow...I didn't do that intentionally...)

I LOVED the peoplemover when I was a kid, and even up until I was around 14 years old and they closed it down. It was just one of those rides you went on because:

    1. The line moved incredibly fast so you'd always only have to wait around 5 minutes for a car, and
    2. It was fun and relaxing.

I SOOOOOOOOO hope they bring this back. God that would be the ultimate!!!

Sorry to ruin some of your hopes.. but based on what I know, the folks on the old PeopleMover/Rocket Rods loading area were there to plan the special July 15th Press event, nothing more...
