Perhaps Disney could loose one of it's hundred t-shirt or plush toy shops instead instead of loosing yet another attraction. By my thinking, the Gallery's location was the attraction, not the little store. The Cinema is an attraction as well. By closing the gallery and moving it's store to the Cinema, you loose two attractions. Sounds like a cascade failure.

out of those places I like it would be in the san fransisco buildings in DCA.

NOS has alot of buildings, is there NO more room left? those shops are only 1 story and club 33 takes up the left side of royal street kind i think. There has to be room.

I agree. There is great pleasure in going up to the Gallery and knowing it was to be Walt's apartment - and just knowing the history of the room and all. I think Disney is making a big mistake in moving the Walt Disney Gallery elsewhere. Big mistake.......

The Opera House and the San Francisco buildings, why not both. Two different art gallery's. Opera House more Disney traditional art and SF Buildings can have more modern art.

The Plaza Pavillion at the end of Main Street is only ever used for overflow Annual Passport processing and sometimes for the Nestle Tollhouse Jr Chef cookie baking activity (do they even do that anymore?). What a perfect location for the Disney Gallery. It would be utilizing currently unused space and it would bring another attraction to Main Street

Plaza used to share it's kitchen with Tahitian/Aladdin dinner until everything closed down. They were renovating the inside but the space is extremely limited because of Tiki animation shop and phone servers that were installed to improve 50th communications.

My vote is still for either Fantasyland Skyway station (as a permanent residence) or Opera House if they bring back Walt's office and possible add a replica of the Firehouse Apartment.

I honestly think that they should close club 33 and put it there but I highly doubt that would happen. I think they should use the Disneyana shop but I don't know how you would expand that.

Re: Relocating the Disney Gallery: Possible locations around the Resort.

I say they put the artwork on the sidewalk for a Sidewalk Sale. Wouldn't that just be grand?

Anyway, on to being more serious about the topic...I think either the Fantasyland Skyway Station would make a great location. Another one would be to construct an old western looking building in Frontierland and house the Gallery in there.

Oh! That gave me an idea! What if you got to choose which art pieces you hated and they got to be put in the Shootin' game in Frontierland! Then you could shoot the stuff you find to be "crap"!

Oh, how I amuse myself. LOL

The Skyway Station sounds like an awesome place. Is it big enough?

I don't like the idea of moving the Gallery to the Opera House. Why? Because its the Main Street Opera House - it's a grand theatre in the turn-of-the-century hometown USA's Town Square. If they moved the Gallery to the opera house what would the marquee read? The Walt Disney Story and the Disney Gallery? The First 50 Magical Years featuring the Disney Gallery? Great Moments with Mr Lincoln with the Disney Gallery? It just doesn't work.

Additionally, I really don't want to see the lobby of the Opera House turned into a store of any sort. The ONLY way this would be okay is if the Mad Hatter was gutted, and the Gallery storespace was moved there along with the print-on-demand system.

But I really don't like forcing the Gallery into the Opera House. It doesn't make sense... ultimately, either the Gallery or the Opera House would have to lose its name in order to make the location make any sense.

The Fantasyland Skyway station is an interesting location. However, it's small and its not enclosed. In order to make it work, the location would have to undergo major rennovations, including fully enclosing the building which would drastically change the look of the structure itself. I don't think the skyway station is a feasible or practical location for the Gallery.

I agree. Getting rid of the Cinema would be a huge mistake. The Disney Gallery and Disneyana don't need to be combined. They're seperate, and should remain so. Don't touch the Main Street Cinemas.

It would be possible to utilize the lobbies on both sides (Entrance/ Exit) for Displays as well as making room behind glass and making "rows" like many typical art galleries. I am not sure how they would handle the theater itself though. Possibly display some of the larger works on the stage or surrounding walls. Overall the biggest obstacle would be the actual theater. To put this in perspective, there is more room in Lincoln then in Plaza!

I had a bit of a modern thought to this, how about enclosing the open areas with glass windows and skylights to bring in natural light, nothing direct of course but the area is shaded to begin with. Real Estate is my main question since I do not know the layout.

So then its the same thing as the Main Street Cinema - we'd be losing an attraction because of the displaced Gallery. Like Lore said, it's a cascade failure.

The options I presented in my OP were options that didn't result in the loss of an attraction, except in the case of the Starcade. But even with the Starcade, the general consensus is that the Starcade needs to go anyway.

I don't think losing the Opera House which houses both exhibit space in the lobby and some sort of theatre presentation is a good idea. There are better places for the Gallery to be moved to.

I thought about the glass idea as well.... but then thought that a lot of glass might seem out of place on this structure. Perhaps if it were stained glass or something? I dont know. Like you, I'm unfamiliar with the actual layout of the building, but from its outward appearance from the Fantasyland pathways, it looks too small for the Gallery.

That would make it a "Shootin' Gallery"!

Seems like the Plaza Pavillion could be made over into a reasonable period "arts conservatory."

Again room constraints... not a lot of Real Estate regardless of what you are lead to believe. Also used as an Emergency Evac for Tiki and Aladdin... so?
