The giant Harry Potter book and Disneyland

Anyone bringing the new Harry Potter book into the park soon? I am going to bring it tomorrow. I am thinking while in line for the subs or such, instead of the People magazine or the iPod, the new Harry Potter book will keep me entertained.

For the Half Blooded Prince I brought it in and the CM at the security point mentioned she had seen so many people bringing it into the park... I am wondering about this one. I just don't want to be the uber nerd carting the giant book in with me.

If you're planning on waiting in the Nemo line, or some of the other hour-long summer lines, I don't see a problem with bringing in the book, especially if you're visiting the park solo. If going with other people I think it would be rather rude to sequester yourself off from good company by reading a book.

Just so you know, the Anaheim Public Library is north on Harbor about a mile from the resort.

I am probably not going to bring the book. I am only 100 pages until the end so I am going to try to finish before I go. I stayed up until 3:30 reading and then woke up at 5:50 because I couldn't sleep. So the grumpy woman probably at Billy Hill today good chance taking a nap, me. On the plus side I won't be carting the 700+ page giant novel.

I will - I love reading the end part where Harry Potter turns into a 37 foot mutant Bart Simpson.

No doubt many will bring the book, you may wish to mark your book accordingly to ensure against possible theft/ mixup. Lots of people and lots of Potter fans out there.

We spent the day there today and would have to say that without looking too hard we easily saw at least a dozen open books and few closed ones (some being carried by cast members on their way to and from a break)

On the drive home I listened to Tony Scott on KFI talking about this shared cultural event across the country....people in Central Park in NYC and all over sitting, walking, reading Harry Potter...what other book can you think of that delights and engages kids and adults....too cool!

"My personal gag reflex was triggered when a certain newspaper, which we'll call The Miami Herald, published a piece, complete with quotes from worried mothers and the obligatory advice from talking heads, on how to help your children cope if Harry is killed. Beg pardon, but I seem to recall that a previous generation of children saw Bambi's mother killed by the hunter without the need for grief counselors standing by. " Leonard Pitts

    I thought this was interesting....

Re: The giant Harry Potter book and Disneyland

    Weel, let's see.

Half-Blood Prince came out on July 16th 2005 (I believe) and my mother and I picked it up at a local bookstore at midnight. We went home after getting it, got some sleep and got up, packed, and left to get to the Grand Californian for the anniversary weekend. Mom even took a picture of me on our balcony, reading the book, while the Monorail goes by.

The Monday after, we did a few things after we checked out. While waiting in line for BLAB, I read a little more.

I brough the book again recently while waiting for Nemo. Come to think of it, I think I was reading the same early chapters.

It may be big, but it was appreciated. While in line, I saw a couple of women with tabloids. I said, "We all have the same idea!" They replied, "Yes, but yours looks a little deeper than ours. We've just got trash." I said, "Don't worry, if I didn't have this, I'd have the trash too."
    My mind won't rest
    and I don't sleep
    Not even in my dreams...
