    California Misadventure/The Demise of WestCOT

So how exactly did the evil Eisner decide to go with DCA over the in creditable DisneySeas park and possibly another great theme park WestCOT? A question that has been asked one too many times. Really when people talk about DCA their true opinions are not what Disney's California Misadventure is, its whats not. When compared to the other two ideas DCA is simply small fry. BUT this is NOT another DCA bashing thread. . . so lets continue.

We've all seen or heard the amazing sights in Tokyo Disney Seas park and cringe at the thought that we could have had that here, but we can only wonder.

WestCOT did not look to shabby either. . . even though the current Epcot seems to be getting less futuristic as each day passes, it is still a great park with a lot ahead of it, and i think we can agree its better than DCA.

Jim Hill media has a little something something on Eisner's failed dream

WOW this would have been cool. . . but we can only wonder and dream . . .

Wow, Ive never been much of a fan of epcot but that looks realy cool-well i can only say what millions of others have said, that their buget wasn't big enough. And the TDS at DLR idea would not fit there(literaly its to big). But all in favor of a TDS type third gate and a huge...HUGE fix for DCA

Can imagine how nice it would have been to see that, the Magic Kingdom Hotel there in the front like the one in Paris, the huge 300ft tall Spacestation Earth, basically an updated version of Epcot.

It looks like they used some of the elements in one of the oicturesn but if, then, should have, could have.....does not solve anything. - I love DCA, but if they do more to it they will start with what is there, not what could have been.

No doubt WestCOT is a thing of the past and will probably stay there, but it still would have been cool to see this idea come to life.

DCA will be undergoing some big changes in the future no doubt about that too

If TDS is the third gate, I will be beyond thrilled, it would be the best thing to happen to American theme parks since Disneyland.

Hmmm.... I don't think there's much chance that a DS will be the 3rd gate at DLR.
Mainly because that'll duplicate the current Holleywood Backlot concept in DCA. (Of course,
if they change THAT, then it could free up the concept...)

Also personally, I'm not that convinced about DS concept itself. I don't really like the MGM
layout and having facades (at a Disney park) bothers me a bit... I would rather still see
Westcot (as the 3rd gate!!) or something new all together.

Disney Seas has nothing to do with the Hollywood Backlot, MGM, or studio facades. Are you confusing TDS with Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris?

Re: California Misadventure/The Demise of WestCOT

Ya know, I think what stirred the end of 'westcot' was quite possibly money. I can just see it now: Eisner says "i love it, but it's too expensive". Then drops the whole thing and starts over with 'smaller budget' in mind. I'm sure he also didn't want to see Epcot 2 or hear the complaints about that.. though it never stopped him from doing Disneyland 4 or Disneyland 5!

I think the golden sphere icon would absolutely work for even a poor idea as DCA. It's a big golden sun! And that's where the similarities end. We don't need world showcase. We don't need future world. It could be a completely different park but with a familiar icon... but different enough to call our own.
