    MIckeys Halloween CONFUSION!

ok i just found out that one of the dates that we are going to DL will be a Mickeys Halloween Treat (MHT) night ...... and if we're locked out......things are gonna get pretty ugly

Now, I know the park closes to the general public & you have to have an AP to get a ticket.

Is it true that the general public can get tickets startin August 1st?
Is it only DCA? or do both parks do this?
will a park hopper work on these dates? (can you get a park hopper that includes admission to MHT?)
    are all rides open?
can you buy a MHT pass in your local area? or do they have to be purchased at the park?

    any help is much appreciated

    yes

    Only in DCA

If you buy a park hopper for the day of the event it will work fine but remember DCA WILL close at 6pm on the days of the events. You can NOT get a park hopper that includes the admission to MHT. MHT tickets are sold seperately online.

    are all rides open?
during the day, yes. during the event, for event ticket holders, yes

can you buy a MHT pass in your local area? or do they have to be purchased at the park?
As of right now only APer's can buy them on disneyland.com. The public can buy them starting August 1st.

    I hope that helps!

Well, before things get ugly, let's see if I can help...

Mickey's Halloween Treat is only at DCA. Disneyland is open and running like any other evening. Yes, tickets go on sale to the general public August 1st and at this time, you need either an AP or a Disney Visa card to purchase them until that date.

MHT is a separate ticketed event that starts after DCA has closed for the day. There are lots of trip reports from last year (including the ones you might find HERE and a few others HERE) that share lots of the fun of MHT for you to determine if the extra cost is worth it to you. I was actually there last year during MHT and chose not to attend, so I don't know about all rides being open, but I'm sure someone else can chime in about that. Also, it seems as if each year things get added on and it is a little different.

But you could still stay at Disneyland and have fun. I think you could still do it, unless you'll be getting to the park around the time DCA closes.

Just out of curiousity, why would you change dates?

DL is still open in the evening and DCA is open all day (until 5pm I think). As I mentioned, I was there last year during MHT and spent the evenings at DL and didn't feel like there was anything different at all.

I agree with Liz and tinkermonkey...go. Even when DCA closes you can still spend time at Disneyland.

I wouldn't change dates if I was you. I know when I go in Dec, DCA closes at 8pm so you're only really missing out on a short time. Just plan to spend that evening at DL!

    Re: MIckeys Halloween CONFUSION!

I've already got my trip planned for Oct 27-31 and hope to spend one of those nights at DCA for Mickey's Halloween Treat. However, should it sell out before I get tickets ( I plan to be on the phone bright and early on the 1st to order) we'll just spend the afternoon at DCA and walk to DL for the night when DCA closes. It's a bummer to spend money for a parkhopper pass and be denied one of the parks for a few hours, but the whole system is flawed in the way it charges people full rates during reduced hour times. Just look at the bright side and plan on spending the night at Disneyland itself.

    Re: MIckeys Halloween CONFUSION!

I just realized, DCA closes early that time of year anyway. On the day I'm hoping to go, DCA would have closed at 5pm. They're actually opening for extra hours on that day for the MHT gathering from 6:30 to 10:30. So you're not losing any hours at DCA, you're paying extra for extra hours at DCA.

So no need to change your vacation unless it's for a few hours to attend the special MHT instead of spending those hours at Disneyland itself.

Whew. I know that I feel better! ;-)

The Haunted Mansion opens September 21st as Haunted Mansion Holiday with Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws. Throughout October, November and December the Haunted Mansion is more closely allied with Christmas than Halloween.

Yea thanks for all the feedback
we're not gonna change dates afterall
i am concerned that DL might be overcrowded that night since DCA is only open to MHT passholders, but besides that it shouldnt be a problem.

IF I STILL DONT GET A CHANCE TO RIDE TOT AT NIGHT IM GONNA.......IM GONNA!.........be dissappointed
