Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Anymore?

Hello Mice-Chatters. This is my first post, so i hope I do it right.

Over the past month my brother and I have been discussing things they should add into DCA with the new Billion dollar budget. And he was saying that they don't have much room to ADD, just to REPAIR. So I began looking around on maps, and noticed that the old Millionaire show building is still there but not in use.

So, I was wondering if you have any idea as to what they have planned for it, if Millionaire is coming back, or if it's just to remain that way for a long time. I personally hope that they put in a Disney Trivia thing in there or put in Rockin' Rollercoaster. Do you have any ideas?

Well I know that I've seen them use that building for private events and luncheons like that. The door was open once and I peeked in and there a luscious buffet set up.

    Welcome to MiceChat!

I don't believe that any plans for doing something besides private events in the building have been announced for the moment. I don't really know how big the building is, but I would love to see a ride that is original and well themed to the area be put there.

I always felt the lesser park needed a Tilt-a-Whirl

Re: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Anymore?

Welcome and thanks for posting! You'll get into the swing of things here in no time...

Ah, the DCA discussion. YOu know, in the non-MiceChat world and outside of California as well, DCA isn't seen to have as many problems as one would tend to think. Even here in Colorado, we like the little park and think it has great potential.

Just as you did with your post. Tilt-a-Whirl aside (cute!), I wish, hope and pray they would bring back Who Wants to be a Millionaire! I watched the program daily when it came on television and try to catch it nowadays (it's never on when I ahve a chance!...actually, is it even on anymore?).

When I was in Cali, it was one of the first attractions I ran to. I came this close THIS CLOSE to being in the hot seat.

    Evil, I tell you.

    But, alas, it was removed.

But I support it coming back. It was a nice change of pace.

The space might be a bit compact for doing the famed Rock and Roller Coaster without some contortion or getting rid of the Muppets. The coaster needs a long, linear launch that cannot be accomadated in such a small space. If they decide to alter the ride in some course...well, maybe it would work!

    Again, welcome to the boards!

    Peace,
    Roo

Welcome to MC! I enjoyed the Who Wants to be a Millionaire show. Almost got to the hot seat but had to refuse it as I was a CM. I hate the fact that it's sitting there empty. I think DCA needs a short indoor show that isn't huge on scenery so it can easily be updated with new movies coming out. Definately something with characters in it, similar to a Hunchback or WDW's Beauty and the Beast. Keep it fresh and current with a new show every 2 years or so.

    Hi mx,

    Welcome to Micechat!

I'd like to see that area used as well. I understand Disney's thought that they would rather bring luncheons to that area as opposed to Big Thunder BBQ just because DCA attracts much fewer people.

I absolutely LOVED the millionaire show. I also was lucky enough to sit in the "hot seat" once. Too bad it didn't last longer because there has never been anything as interactive and challenging as Millionaire.

So my ultimate dream for that building it to bring it back. I know that won't happen so anything other than private parties would be an upgrade for a customer like me.

I never saw this show and I'm actually kind of surprised that it's missed. It had seemed weird and un-Disney to me.

Now, Disney trivia would be cool! Okay, maybe the average tourist wouldn't care too much for it, but it would be fun. They could give out limited edition items as prizes.

    Welcome!

No, the Millionaire show won't be coming back. It's been closed for some time and they now use the space for convention, corporate, etc. It closed August of 2006 at Studios as well and is helping to make way for Toy Story Manina.

The space isn't quite large enough for Coaster. As cool at Coaster is, if they do it they will need a bit larger of a location.

But yes, I will agree that is a nice location that something could and should be done in. But we'll have to wait and see just what happens next. Welcome to MiceChat! I hope you have fun in this great online community family!

We attended the Taste! event in May inside the building. It really does make for a very nice event area because it's basically a blank slate that they can configure for anything. At Taste! there was a large stage at the front of the room, and I assume this is a semi-permanent structure.

In any event, I imagine that they need a space like this somewhere on the property, although I would assume the conference rooms over at the hotels would work.

I say bulldoze Monsters Inc., the Millionaire building and that big restraunt that is closed by Monsters Inc. (Studio Dine-in or something like that) and build an E-Ticket.

Do you think that the studio area could use another E ticket? they already have the tower of terror in that area and whenever me and my brother(the person who started this thread) go we always head straight there. i say they should spread out the E-tickets so people are drawn to different areas. for example "a bug's land" could use an E-ticket or anything to create a draw there. i think they could come up with something for that area because there is quite a bit of space that is not being put to "good" use

Now that I've thought more about it what I would like that would fit in well with the theme would be another game show, but one that was actually on TV. They could have some new game show for ABC and actually choose contestants that were in the park that day, like have a raffle in the morning to choose contestants and then film the show in the afternoon. Visitors to the park could be a live studio audience, and of course the intro to the show would go like this: "Welcome to another exciting game of Insert Game Show Name Here filmed in front of a live studio audience at Disney's California Adventure". I could see it bringing crowds to the park and it certainly fits in with the California & Hollywood studios theme.
