Re: Son of "Long-Forgotten Haunted Mansion Effect," or The Thread 2

Well, I'm not going to sit idly by and let The Thread go quietly into the night...

I was going over Al Lutz's latest update when this caught my eye:

"The Little Mermaid omnimover is still a go next door however, in the space currently used by Golden Dreams and the Route 66 souvenir stand."

Though I've never seen the extra footage found on the "Little Mermaid" DVD walking us through the proposed attraction, I was familiar that the ride was going to get an omnimover system like ours at HM.

Question: Reports from WDW claim that components of the omnimover system were replaced and updated, making for a smoother, more fluid ride while adding some bonus articulation. I presume we in So Cal will be getting these improvements after the HMH is dismantled in 2008. Is this true?

    Or
will there be a more improved version made specifically for the Little Mermaid Ride that will surpass both the original version of the HM and that of the moderately improved WDW HM? If so, will any of the HM's get this in the future?

I don't mind the HM's omnimover. There are only a couple parts that are a bit too jerky for me, but I think that's due to age and fatigue mainly. A few spare parts and I think it'd be okay. There's no need to replace the entire system.

Well I think everyone is busy looking at all the new DCA concept art. There will be a time when we have all seen enough concept and are playing the weighting game; thats when everyone will come back...

So, the Haunted Mansion's post-Holiday refurb schedule has been posted on Disneyland.com. Apparently, the attraction will be closed January 7 - 24.

With that said, I'm guessing this means we won't be getting any upgrades to the show in this time? Surely, 17 measly days isn't enough time to remove the Holiday overlay and install the new show effects from WDW, right?

Probably not. I'm okay with each Mansion having its unique bits.

Unique bits are each show having slightly different show scenes, like WDW's library scene, for example.

Having completely amazing new special effects and upgraded sound and lighting isn't so much "unique bits" as it is just mean to not give it to both Mansions.

But remember last time when the attic was being redone, it didn't happen right away, "Constance" and the other attic revisions were slowly introduced (the purple sheet hoopla? we were all contemplating the return of a certain gentleman...). I'm keeping my fingers (and legs) crossed that we'll see some new stuff as well eventually!

Something small will be added is my guess. It will take the Disney HM geeks to truly notice the changes. 2 weeks does not sound like enough time to add anything major. We'll see, sometimes Disney amazes with no expectations.
