A Real Wooden Roller Coaster at DLR.

I really like wooden roller coasters, but if there was one built at DLR it would have to be highly themed, not that "let's theme a roller coaster to a roller coaster" crap they did with California Screamin. I would be much happier with California Screamin' if it was an actual wooden roller coaster, but I would still complain about the lack of theming.
How about building an actual wooden roller coaster around Grizzly River Run and theme it to something like Yosemite National Park?

I think that would be really hard! to theme a wooden coaster in DCA. But putting it around Grizzly river run is a great idea!

Re: A Real Wooden Roller Coaster at DLR.

I think the problem with putting in a large rollercoaster in DCA now would be that the place has slowly begun to develop a look of its own. Well, the look was always there but it has come into its own methinks. Certainly around the Golden State area, I believe any large structures would overshadow the beauty formed by the bear rock, Grizzly River Run and surrounding areas. It is easily the best "theme" in the park, because it looks largely natural. Any rollercoaster that went in there would have to be very careful to be true to that theme. GhostHost2's idea of a "Yosemite National Park" theme may just fit the bill.

Don't be surprised if that happens, I've heard rumors that a coaster is going there.

Wow, a wooden roller coaster? No amusement park has one of those.

DCA should try to differentiate itself from amusement parks, not try to keep up with such 1920's technology.

I don't know about that. If its footprint was small enough, it could be enclosed and given a proper theme.

Why don't they make the third park a thrill adventure park. Have extreme rides like wooden rollarcoasters, zero g coasters, fast coasters, and maybe mission: space.

They should put a wooden coaster where the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is. Call it "The Magic of Brother Bear Back Breaker Coaster" or something like that. Haha

Seriously a wooden roller coaster would be a good idea, but I agree that wooden roller coasters do shake you up quite a bit. What about a steel coaster made up to look like an old fashioned wood coaster? Has that cool look of a wood coaster but rides much smoother.

Wood coasters only get rough when they are not properly taken care of. A good example is the Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz. The ride is almost 90 years old and is not rough at all. They do require much more upkeep than a steel coaster does, and if it is not kept on top of, they do get rough QUICK!
