Question Great Moments with Walt & Roy

Personally I think this would make a great show, but realize that messing with Disney nostalgia can tip some Disney Fanatics over the edge. I would like to get your thoughts about whether people would find this intriguing or disturbing.

With the closure of the Lincoln exhibit there is much specualtion that it won't ever return even though Disney has stated it would.

I have always thought this audio-animatronic show could be "reborn" into "Great Moments with Walt & Roy" through AA's of Walt and Roy battling over their ideas and how to pay for them. Imagine seeing Walt and Roy sitting in the garage dreaming their dreams as well as ride along as Bankruptcy continually looms over the heads in the early days. I would love to see Walt send Roy off on his good will mission and start building the Matterhorn after Roy said they couldn't afford it. Imagine the laughs of audience. Imagine seeing Walt tell you of his dream straight from his own mouth ( sort of ). Imagine the chills inside yourselves as we watch the story unfold before us .

How do you feel about this idea? Would you like to see it? Or do you have to deceased for 100+ years before you can become an AA? Would people be freaked out about seeing Walt in this forum? I think it would be a great tribute to him and his vision for the use of audio-animatronics. I look forward to seeing the responses from both sides.

I don't know if it was Walt's wish or just the general consensus, but my understanding is that there will never be a Walt AA.

Then again, 'never' is a dangerous word...

I have heard that too. I guess that the mindset is that would "dishonor" Walt's memory by making him mechanical. I think that if Walt were asked, he said that he wanted to "honor" the memory of Lincoln by making him a AA. I see a contradiction, don't you?

That's a great idea, and I'd love to see that show. I've never really been interested in Lincoln very much. Some of the main reasons why he's so celebrated are exaggerated or untrue. Walt however, is VERY interesting and his brother more so...

However, it would be really creepy to see a Walt AA... Really creepy...

I believe the Disney family expressed that there will never be a Walt AA, they may actually have used the word never too. I didn't see anything official though, im just going of what I heard.

I would not want to see an AA Walt, I don't know why, but I don't.

I suppose they could use the ASIMO technology to make a free walking Walt AA that could roam the park and talk to kids like Lucky.

Re: Great Moments with Walt & Roy

What's funny in this discussion, is this: isn't there a pirate somewhere in POTC whose face was modeled on Walt's? So technically there might already BE a Walt AA in existence, just not "as" Walt.

Then again, that may only be speculation. Personally, I'd LOVE to see a Walt AA, and I think Walt himself may very well have been amused by the idea if humility did not force one to feel guilty about wanting to be immortalized in that way. I could see them using actual audio of Walt speaking. It would be..... awesome.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Re: Great Moments with Walt & Roy

May I express some reasons for a Walt and Roy show.

When I grew up Walt was on TV each week. To tell you the truth, the first few minuets of him explaining the program was sometimes the best part.

Today to most young people, Walt Disney is a logo, as real as Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker. They don't know the person of Walt Disney. I am afraid that he will just become an image as real to people as Colonel Sanders, (who today is just a cartoon!)

I feel I know him as a person. Mainly because of all those Sunday nights. I also because interested in him as an adult and read some biographies. I would like him to stay a real person and not become an icon like Benjamin Franklin, George Washington or even Abraham Lincoln-- just an image on a dollar bill.

If not an AA, there needs to be something that allows young people to get to know him. I am afraid that this very visual generation, will not read about him in books, like I did.

Shhhh!... The Southern Baptists will start another boycott to persuade Disney to remove Lincoln.

Evidence seems to point that way...

BTW, a free roaming Walt AA would totally freak me out. Hasn't anyone seen Westworld? It's the scariest movie ever made!

I am surprised this topic didn't draw more people with an opinion on an AA Walt.
I myself I am not sure fully how I would feel, but I think I would have to see it first to know for sure.
