Hopefully I'm posting this question in the right forum - I don't get to read micechat as often as I used to...so please forgive me.
Anyway, I've gone to Disneyland every year since I was 4. Now that I am an adult, my wife and I figured out that the Tropicana Inn was perfect for two people to stay since it's so close to the Disneyland and DCA entrances and that's where we've stayed for the past several years.
However, this year we are taking our newborn son and our nieces (4 and 6 years old). We are considering giving them the ultimate Disney experience and staying in either the Grand Californian or the Disneyland hotel. As a kid, I always wanted to stay in the Disneyland hotel. The idea of being able to step outside the hotel and board the monorail directly to Tomorrowland always seemed so cool and swore I would stay there when I was a "grown up." However, I noticed that the station is now a distance away from the hotel now since Downtown Disney went in.
Ok, so my question is...which hotel would be the closest and most convenient for shuttling little kids back and forth for naps (and feedings for the infant)? How far of a walk is it from the Disneyland hotel to the Downtown Disney monorail station? Would anybody recommend that as the best option, or should we just stay at our usual good neighbor hotel and skip some of the Disney magic? We are planning on going during the off-season during the middle of the week, so crowds shouldn't be a factor in this decision. Any input would be great!
