    Re: Face Character auditions...AGAIN!

Does anyone know what the height bracket is for Mary Poppins?

I was hoping she could be just a little taller than a princess, because I'm about 5'8. Not going to these auditions, but I'd like to try out this time next year.

    Re: Face Character auditions...AGAIN!

FantasmicPrincess, I think that Mary Poppins falls into the same height bracket as the princesses (I know that I've seen some girls as Mary Poppins who also play some princesses). She usually seems around 5'6" or so ... I think that 5'8" is still within princess range, though a bit on the tall side ... all of this stuff can get so subjective, so the best thing is to just go and see who the casting directors see you as.

Tedi Bara, you seem just about perfect for Alice and Wendy. Whenever they are specifically mentioned on the casting call, the ideal height requirement is around 4'11" to 5'2". I'm not sure about your size, but I've seen Alice/Wendy's who have been skinny, and some who have been on the thicker side.

It really comes down to your face, and your general "look." Tedi Bara, if you have a face they like, they could definitely use you (at your height) as Alice/Wendy. FantasmicPrincess, I've got to say the same for you: if you look like Mary Poppins, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to play her at 5'8".

Then again, I'm not a casting director, so anything that I say is definitely not set in stone...

Merci for the info. Good luck to everyone who is going out! Let us know how it goes...that is if you're allowed to

I think in this case no news really is good news.

I'm getting nervous, too ... do any of you happen to know when is a good time to show up? I have a feeling that if I arrive at 8:00 on the dot, I'll be in line forever. But how early is *too* early? I'd like to be one of the first ones in, but I don't want to be ridiculously, obsessively early.

I would suggest arriving there at 7am on the dot, or even a little bit earlier. I arrived at 7 and was the second group to go in, I was in and out of there by 8:20 and they opened the auditions at 8. So if you don't mind waiting in line, then show up whenever you want, but if you want to get in and out of there (that is if you don't get chosen) then I would suggest being there at 7.

The shorter you are, the better. Most of the recent girls have been 5'0" or 5'1".

But I don't want to go among MAD people!

Okay my daughters (identical twins) are interested in face character work but from what I'm reading they are exactly the wrong height. They are 5' 3" and it looks like they are an inch too tall or short. Comments please.

If they have the right looks and are a good match for a character, there's still a good chance they could be hired as princesses. They won't completely rule out 5'3" if they have the right appearance.

And to everyone who will try out tomorrow (9/8), I say "break a leg" to all.

BTW, Ashley, you'd make a great Jasmine.
