Mickey's ToonTown...Leave It? Get Rid Of It? Repair It? What?

Mickey's ToonTown is currently in a horrible state of flux between falling apart, being a boring "land," and everwhere in between.

My question to you all is what would you like to see done to Mickey's ToonTown? Should it get removed altogether? Should it be made into an extension of Fantasyland? Should it simply get updated and repaired? What about changing it into a totally different land?

    Speak your mind!

I think it's just a little too...i dunno. Not a whole lot there. Great promise though if they can just add some new stuff

Agreed. It needs to be an extension of Fantasyland.

I love the theme, but I never go there because there are so few full-fledged attractions - Roger Rabbit and Mickey's House are about it. (I always intend to spend some time there, but never seem to make it during my once or twice annual trips). I've read some complaints of neglect, fading paint, etc. - if that's true, that needs to be taken care of.

I say tear out some of the unused McDonald's Playland attractions (Donald's Boat, Chip n' Dale's Treehouse, possibly Goofy's Playhouse), and maybe Gadget's Go-Coaster, and put in a Toon-themed E-ticket. And, when designing this ride, they need to remember - people of all ages like cartoons, (especially the older cartoons this land references) not just young kids!

I think that they should take out the Chip and Dale treehouse and add something new back there. They could also retheme or replace all together Gadget's go coaster. My son has no clue who Gadget is.

They should spend a little money to make sure that all the gags and effects around downtown toontown work and look good. The jail cell bars have been stretched a few too many times.

I think they could do something better with Goofy's house too. I understand the need for a childrens play area. They could do that in the park right next to Goofy's house and figure out something a little better for Goofy.

One more thing. BRING BACK THE JOLLY TROLLEY. I don't mean so they can use it as a photo spot or a bench. I want to see is running up and down the street again.
Check out my new Disney Blog here. What it lacks in quality it makes up with... Well, nothing I guess.

I spend very little time in Toontown, so I haven't paid much attention to the state of it.

I voted to leave it the way it is, but not because I think it's fine. I think that it's fun for the younger kids, and Roger Rabbit can be fun, and the theming is immersive if not beautiful. But yes, that land needs work...just not yet. There are other things that need a lot more attention, like DCA and certain areas of other rides.

I remember the year that Toontown opened. It was cool and fun, but it definitely needs an update. It only seems to have fallen into disrepair since it opened and I can't think of any other major additions to it since it opened either. So something new and some maintenance and paint would be a big help.

I feel they should either repair and update it (get rid of the attractions that were completely neutered by lawsuits or threats of them)

    Or

Turn it into a villians area with a few creepy dark rides, a scary looking swamp, etc...

    Get. Rid of it!
It's not that i hate the idea, but it's tacky, everything looks like it's made of plastic... Move it to DCA and use the space to build something better.

Re: Mickey's ToonTown...Leave It? Get Rid Of It? Repair It? What?

The reasons I want ToonTown to stay is because it has POTENTIAL. Lots of potential. Imagine a House of Mouse full-service Disney restaurant... 3D show (much like PhilarMagic but different)... and a Toon-like walk-thru house of gags... someplace where you could walk through a toon's world, like what a toon park, toon mall, toon museum, toon city, toon countryside, toon hotel, toon etc. looks like! My idea for the toon museum could possibly be "gummy rocks, NOW ON DISPLAY", and you could touch them, and they're bouncy. Even a toon candy store for souviners at the end! ToonTown has lots of potential... just maybe a weird kind of potential.
I am a rabid Disney fan. Possible future Imagineer (already designing rides for it)... I've only been to Disneyland. I'm hoping to go to Disney World this summer for the first time, and TDR might be possible in 3 years.

Some major E tickets back there is what they need to do.

Sorry to get off topic Joseph but I always thought that was a monkey pulling your beard in your avatar pic, I just realized its the Donald statue. LOL

Re: Mickey's ToonTown...Leave It? Get Rid Of It? Repair It? What?

Toontown has just been neglected, and nothing has
happened to this land except things beening removed,
with nothing to replace it. THAT is inexcusable, for
    anyplace in DL.

Toontown really does have a different look and feel
than any other land in DL. And it really does deserve
    to be it's own land.

Even with the neglect, and closings of the Bounce
in Goofy's House, the seldom appearing Jolly-less
Trolley, and with the nutless Acorn Crawl (it's a wonder
that Chip and Dale haven't starved to death.) this
land is SO supperior to what the Disney Afternoon Avenue,
and what WDW has with Mickey's Toontown Fair. Both
the DAA and MTTF are complete embarassments compared
to what TT in DL has to offer.

Mickey's house is still popular, and Roger Rabbit's
Car toon Spin is still a fantastic attraction, and
with so many still remaining fun house type elements
in Toontown, Disney could certainly revive this
Town, It would just take a Little attention . . .
and it should be attended to asap.

Others have suggested on this thread (and numerous
others recently discussing the exact same thing) some
solutions. My favorites include turning the entrance
door to "Toontown City Hall" into the entrance to
Mickey's Philharmagic (Darkbeer detailed how space
could be made available to this attraction.)

Also the eating areas in this land are substandard ~
seldom open, and need a major improvement. Goofy's
Bounceless House, Chip and Dales, Gadgets, Donalds
Boat ALL need to be reconsidered for something new,
or at least add a ton of new interactive features.

Just get the imagineers working on it ~

Re: Mickey's ToonTown...Leave It? Get Rid Of It? Repair It? What?

I'd love to see a PhilharMagic type show put back there. It could be held in a "ToonTown Theatre" to keep in theme of the land.

I always wished they made Mickeys house a dark ride of some sort, and when you exit you can still have the photo shoot.

I wish Gadgets Go Coaster had more ride capacity because it's such a draw.

The Philharmagic idea could work - what's back there now, a warehouse? That would be the perfect place to put another Pixar-centric movie based ride.

They can also push out to the west between Gadgets and Mickey's House, but that would mean changes to the Circle-D corrals and they'd have to go over the service road to Tomorrowland.
