Splash Mountain is an undeniable success, and achievement for Imagineers. It is the perfect marriage of theme and motion, with just the right touch of thrill ride to keep adults coming back as well as children.

Whether or not you personally enjoy the ride, you have to admit (simply from looking at the consistent wait times) that Splash Mountain is one the most successful and popular attractions in the park.
There is no argument that it is popular, as I stated in the original post.

Re: Destruction of Splash Mountain and Critter Country

I don't think I would be willing to give up splash for that, plus as nish221 points out, it would be a weird split of theming to have to walk through NOS to get there.

If you get ride of Hungry Bear do you replace it with another eatery? Something is still needed in that area, please I would not like losing the quietness of the back of HB, especially when I am in the park alone and want to take a break.

Finally, where will pooh and his friends go for a meet and greet? My son will go through withdrawls if tehre is no place to visit Eeyore.

    A little piece of heaven

Obviously...yet you are willing to ignore that and demolish it to fit your own personal idea of what should be popular?

    Glad you aren't in charge

What about instead of removing CC you replace BTR.
If you are going to replace something why not make it BTR?
There would be plenty of room there and you would not have to worry about NOS being in between!

Re: Destruction of Splash Mountain and Critter Country

Swab's idea makes for a solid argument, but the proposal is lost on so many youthful MC'ers. Truth is, the WRE is such an obscure chapter in the history of Disney, that the befouled "Museum of the Weird" is more widely known than WRE.

I would exhort any of you with the resources and time to please give a fully detailed outline of what the Western River Expedition was intended to be before calling for the heads of Brers Bear, Rabbit, and Fox on a plate. That, and understanding the business that is Disney as well as Swab does make me question -although slightly- his sanity.

Splash is a beloved attraction by most all Disney goers. And seeing that the ride consumes more square footage than Space Mountain and Matterhorn, it's widely understood that its demolition would be a MASSIVE endeavor.

Rather, with SO many calling for a spanning thematic return to Frontierland's roots, why cling on to the waste of acreage that is the eastern banks of the ROA, Big Thunder Trail, and Big Thunder petting zoo, and incorporate the WRE into the Rivers of America, BTRR's creeks and mountain formations, and allow the Trail to cut between them?

Why abolish Splash when there is already land ready to dig into? POTC, Crockett's canoes, and the once Tom and Huck rafts are all water rides that surround Splash, so the addition of yet one more isn't so terrible, is it? I say give Frontierland it's WRE, preserve Splash and ramp up it's Southern roots, thus bringing it into NOS, carve out most of Critter Country, and permanently moor the Black Pearl or the Flying Dutchman next to the northern shore of TSI with a new rockier topography with the Isla de Muerta caves.

    Very questionable, indeed.

Anyway, back on topic, I don't think Splash Mountain needs removal. Can you imagine how upset people will be?

We could end all debate by paving over the entire park and putting in entirely new attractions.

Or a series of attractive potted plants.

    Either way: pure magic.

    1. The ROA is still Frontierland, as are its banks, the raft launches and canoes. NOS was constructed to replicate architecture in Frontierland's time period (1860). Not really much of a thematic stretch historically (now, geographically, maybe; but what isn't a geographic 'stretch' in the Park?).
    2. Of course, as I stated, it would have to be a less sweeping version of WRE and Thunder Mesa; but wouldn't that be better than a log ride with hand-me-down AA's, a kiddie DR that is ill-fitting and unpopular, and a eatery serving no real 'unique' dishes? To me, the answer is yes.
Actually, the "show" is always in the eyes of the visitors. If one was walking from Frontierland, transition to NOS and then back again to Frontierland is problematic (thematically). To the
person walking that route, ROA doesn't factor except as a side view.

If you need/want WRE at where Critter Country is now, I would just call it Thunder Mesa... make it even more "desert" than Frontierland. But this then wouldn't help Frontierland directly.
Yes. I would make this trade, but if I had the power to do this, I'll level the current BTMRR
and if I had the power to do that, I'll just put WRE there instead w/ BTMRR inside it.

But this isn't going to happen... too many people now consider Splash to be an integral part of a DL/MK. Same thing that happened to PotC in WDW MK.

So I'm confused. Why take out Splash when you could take out the Fantasyland/Frontierland trail, the old mine train area/Big Thunder ranch, Fantasyland theater, go under/outside the berm backstage and still come back in under the berm to the Pooh/Hungry Bear location - all without removing Splash?

Except in Paris, since they don't have one because of cold weather.

I agree that Sindbad's Storybook Voyage is simply breathtaking. I daresay I like it even better than Pirates of the Caribbean.
