People say if the Astro Orbiter is moved back up high we should put a fountain at the entrance.
In my opinion a fountain will be just as congesting. True, the view will be MUCH better at the entrance, but people still bottleneck at fountains. It's probably best to have just plain nothing at the entrance. Fountains on either side would add kinetics without actually causing bottlenecks.
The path should be as it was from 1967-1997 .. a clear unobstructed path and view into the heart of the land.
Quick question, I heard the astro orbitor no longer has the top half "spinning"...like how it would slowly spin to add a kinetic feel. Is this true? How long has it been broken?

If "something" is going on the peoplemover track, it makes the enterance a beautiful view that shouldn't be blocked. That big Y is a great architectual element...
the kinetic thing on top of astro orbiter stopped working around the time of the blackouts and not enough power in cali... i thouhgt maybe they turned it off to help save power, but then it never came on again... *sigh*
almost anything would be better than the those ugly rocks and lame orbiter. putting the rockets back where they came from is a stupendous idea.and opening up the entrance to t.l. is a must. consider this...

According to Al, a replacement ride for the People Mover is in the cards for the relatively near future. The overhead "Y" in the entryway has a grand. aesthetically strikingl appearance - and a new ride will likely be travelling on it soon. Nothing else is neede.Originally Posted by socal05
When it comes to fountains, it is hard to beat the one at the nearby "hidden" Triton's Garden (just beneath Ariel's Grotto in Fantasyland). There, glass tube-like jets of water fly over you, ar at you when close to them. They are spontaneous and random as well. It's the most beautiful and fun fountain in the park.

I think Tomorrowland's entrance from 1967 - 1997 would be fine.
I know that the Disney Imagineers' work practically went down the drain with the 1998 heavy budget, but look at how cool this looks! I would have preferred this entry than the one Disneyland currently owns today. What's your opinion?

If the Rocket Jets were restored to their rightful place and the hideous rocks removed, there would be plenty of space for a fountain or other water feature up against the sides of the TL buildings, thus leaving the central walkway wide open as ever.
Or,
If the Rocket Jets were restored to their rightful place and the hideous rocks removed, there would be plenty of space for a small water feature up against where the Peoplemover tracks split, still leaving far more walking space than the Astro Orbiter did.
Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

When the orbitor was assembled, the construction crew neglected to properly add lubricant to many of the moving parts of the attraction. Since these parts are sealed and cannot be reached unless dissasembled. the moving parts of the attraction began to slowly cause problems with some completely stopping. Management decided it would just wait till the attraction goes thru its large refurbishment to correct the problem. during that refurb all the spinning components would be removed and evaluated to see if any damaged had been done to the working mechanism.
As far as I know, the Astro Orbiter's upper portion has been moving around freely since May 5, showcasing the lovely new hidden 50 in its top half.
As for fountains... public fountains don't work.. they smell.. they lead to mildew and sifferent bacterias... no reason to plague (literally) the paying Disneyland guests with another public bathhouse.
