DLR Character Dining meals are going up in price on Sept. 12th

Found the initial info at another board.

All the new prices are coming from the Disney Dining Operators.

As for current prices, here are all the Character Meal Prices, I am going to post the actual price, then add 26% (8% tax and 18% tip) to come up with the full amount charged.

    Plaza Inn Breakfast - Adults $21.99, Kids (3-9) $11.99 - ($27.72/$15.12)
Ariel's Grotto (same price for Lunch and Dinner) $20.99/$13.99 - ($26.46/$17.64)
    PCH Lilo and Stitch Breakfast - $21.99/$11.99 - ($27.72/$15.12)
    GCH Chip 'n Dale Breakfast - $21.99/$11.99 - ($27.72/$15.12)
    Goofy's Kitchen Brunch - $21.99/$11.99 - ($27.72/$15.12)
    Goofy's Kitchen Dinner - $28.99/$11.99 - ($36.54/$15.12)

The new prices as of September 12th...

    Plaza Inn Breakfast - Adults $25.99, Kids (3-9) $13.99 - ($32.21/$17.34)

Ariel's Grotto (same price for Lunch and Dinner) $27.99/$15.99 - ($34.69/$19.82)

    PCH Lilo and Stitch Breakfast - $25.99/$13.99 - ($32.21/$17.34)

    GCH Chip 'n Dale Breakfast - $25.99/$13.99 - ($32.21/$17.34)

    Goofy's Kitchen Brunch - $25.99/$13.99 - ($32.21/$17.34)

    Goofy's Kitchen Dinner - $31.99/$13.99 - ($39.64/$17.34)

So the Character Breakfasts will go up $4 for adults, and $2 for kids

Goofy's Kitchen Dinners will go up $3 for Adults, and $2 for kids

Ariel's Grotto (same price for Lunch or Dinner as they use the same menu all day) $7 for Adults, $2 for kids

This does not seem too awfully horrible of a price increase when you take into consideration the price of other buffets in the So Cal area. Comparable food choices in the San Diego area are between $29 and $50 before tax and tip. Those, of course do not include the character interaction. Price increases are rarely welcomed with enthusiasm. I would have preferred the price to remain at the bargain it was before. We usually take in one character breakfast while we are there and this year will be no different. If the prices were to increase over $35 for the breakfast buffet without some kind of added incentive we would probably pass. I understand how it does add up for families. They should have some kind of Family Four Pak or something.

That is $35 before add ons.

Why such a jump for Ariel's? I wish there was some kind of a package for families, but then they wouldn't get all the $$ from you. (Sorry, ranting there a teensie bit based on having to pay to watch my kids interact at a Plaza Inn birthday party!!)

    Holy cow!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Nice to know. I already have PS at Ariels, and we are going at the end of September. I am planning to pay for our group of 6, so I am really glad I know ahead of time.

I have not offered to pay for the other family yet. However, I know that they would not be brining their 3 year old son there by choice. It is just where my daughter wanted to have her Birthday dinner. I think its fair that I at least offer, and I know them well enough to know they will take me up on it.

27 bucks for breakast! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh my God. I really pity the people who actually pay that much for a few eggs, ham and bacon. But Disney makes money from it so more power to them.

I was GOING to treat myself to the Plaza Inn breakfast on Sept 21st. I have officially decided to take my $$ to Mimi's Cafe instead for french toast for $9.

Thanks for the info I would have been pretty surprised @ $27.00!!

Wow. That really stinks. I was hoping to go to Goofy's Kitchen next time, as I thought (maybe not?) that the Mad Hatter is in there. ^^

But looks like I won't now. Oh well.

Packaged deals will make money, too, so I agree there should be something like that.

Re: DLR Character Dining meals are going up in price on Sept. 12th

Disney's becoming more famous for their Disney Inflation than creating original ride concepts. It's gone well beyond the "what would Walt do", it's gotten to the point of legal theft. And I won't compare one price to another to justify high prices...a dollar is a dollar. It wouldn't matter if McDonald's and Disneyland were both charging $10 for a hamburger, I still wouldn't eat at either place, and it certainly wouldn't justify Disney's outrageous prices anymore than if McDonald's was charging $1 for a burger.

The only thing I compare prices to is my paycheck. If they are way out of whack, like working 2 hours to pay for lunch for one person, I don't eat there. I couldn't care less if something else is comparable in price, it doesn't lessen the bite it takes out of my salary. And shame on Disney for taking advantage of people's sense of family fun. They know that people will pay a lot to have the kind of experience that Walt Disney provided them as children. I think it's absolutely despicable what they are charging for parking, admission and food.

And yes, I have refused to go there recently based on the outrageous prices since I don't live close enough for a AP. I'm a San Diegan, close enough to visit but far enough to make it a hassle with an AP.

Re: DLR Character Dining meals are going up in price on Sept. 12th

Well, I wonder how this will affect prebought meals? I'm going to DL end of October and bought a 3 day dining package for the family- which includes two character breakfasts. Will they honor our breakfasts at the old prices? Or are they gonna make us come up with the difference? Does this mean the other food places within Disneyland will be raising their prices too? The food prices really are quite nuts. We'll be paying more for food than for hotel, souvenirs and airfare!
