Re: Finding Nemo submarine Voyage to close for the month of October.

It's selfish of me, but I hope that this is delayed until after the Holiday season. We're taking a family trip to the park for my mom's birthday this year, and she's been looking forward to the Subs, because she had such fond memories of them growing up.

But regardless of when this refurb is done, I hope its more than just some touching up, and more along the lines of major enhancements. The angler fish needs to be significantly enhanced, the jellyfish scene could use some tweaking, and the Bruce scene with the mines could be enhanced (the Subs need to shake more! )

And maybe the entire volcano scene can be re-worked. As it is, the scene looks incredibly fake and flat. I mean, at the very least, incorporate some of the dated, but effective rolling lava effect found in the Primeval World diorama.

And Imagineering should call the voice actor who did the Captain's narration and have him record some more lines that will make the Submarine Voyage more about a Submarine Voyage and less about Nemo carrying the weight of the attraction.

It seems most likely to me that they may have shortchanged some of the initial development efforts either hardware- or software-wise to meet the original opening schedule and get the summer crowds and use it as a marketing tool but now they have to go back and deal with those things.

Or it may be something else entirely. Guess we'll have to wait for Al to report.

I'm hoping this is true and that they'll be adding more things in the outside lagoon (it just looks too empty to me), and especially have the mysterious KUKA arms installed (and maybe other things that don't come to my mind at this moment).

    Please, Disney!

What he said. ^ But if I get on that thing in November and Nemo, Dory and the others are wearing santa hats and singing carols, I'll pop open the hatch and swim naked back to shore.

    Just giving everyone fair warning.

Re: Finding Nemo submarine Voyage to close for the month of October.

Oh I am crossing my fingers it does not close any earlier.

We are going the last weekend of September. I would personally be ok waiting until our next trip. However, I have kind of pumped it up to our 5 year old... I took her to see the sub-mobile when it was up here, and had her watch the sub related pod casts and such.... Nemo was her first movie she loved so I used these subs to help get her excited for whats to come with our trip....

I dont know how often we will make it down there (this is our first trip as a family) so I could have set her up... for her to not ride it for a few years...

I know that anything is subject to being closed, but I would not have guessed this one. But even if it does close while we are there we will have a great time. Just like I will still have a great time without having breakfast at the Riverbelle Terrace as I wanted to.

Ahh the thought of Subs being closed for a little while. My best guess is that they are going to add in what they can prior to the whole Christmas Rush... As to opening it up in Summer... they wanted to put it on the map as soon as they could.

Understandable, I'm sure that they rushed to get it out, and need to finish some touch ups.

Don't feel bad... I was there last night...looked at the length of the line and thought "I'll just wait until I come back in Oct." To quote Homer Simpson "DOH!"

I'm just thankful it's not closing until October...my husband would probably have a heartattack if it wasn't open...he's been looking forward to the sub ride for YEARS - since it closed!!! Though I guess part of me would be ok with it closing PART way through our trip. He's got it in his head that we HAVE to go on it at LEAST ONCE EACH DAY! Ugh...well that's gonna be a lot of line time...oh well. Maybe after going on it once (or twice), he'll change his mind.

Until we hear this from Disney, I really doubt it's true.

Re: Finding Nemo submarine Voyage to close for the month of October.

I just checked the Disneyland.com calendar and it doesn't say anything about Nemo being closed for a scheduled refurbishment. The only attractions I saw that are getting attention are Casey Jr., Alice, IASW, and Riverbelle.

    Curious.
