When do the Christmas lights go up?

My Buddy Troy and his family have annual passports that expire on November 20. They're wanting to go again before their passports expire,
but they want to wait until the Christmas decorations are all lit up.
Does anyone remember what dates the decorations went up last year?

    Thanks.

If my notes are correct, the Christmas season should begin on the 2nd Friday of November. It is really beautiful with the park all decked out.

I remember being shocked at how quickly Halloween disappeared and Christmas showed up last year. But...I think Christmas showed up in stages. I think you're right in that by the middle of November, a good deal of the park is ready to go. When does the tree go up? I really can't remember now...

    In any case...I can't wait!

Here's my Christmas sig from last year: (There's five shots so wait for a sec if you want to see all of them )

Re: When do the Christmas lights go up?

Xmas is fully up by Thanksgiving, which is VERY EARLY this year, in fact it is the earliest it can be, November 22. So If they go the weekend before (Nov 18-19) seems like they will be good to go.
Just in case you are wondering how I know that Thanksgiving is the earliest it can be, is because my Bday is Nov 25, whihc this year is the Sunday after Thanksgiving and next year it swings to the Monday (or Tuesday because of Leap Year) before Thanksgiving. Hence why I know that Thanksgiving is early this year, which is very good for your friends, I am positive that by the weekend before Thanksgiving the Park will be in full Bloom for Xmas.

Veteran's Day Weekend usually - they were up by November 11th last year. (the tree was anyway, they didn't have the garland across main street yet)

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

They start putting some of the decorations for Christmas up about the last week of October. I know that some years ago the tree was up three days after Halloween.

The date I heard was Nov 17th. They are not going to rush to put them up right after Halloween this year and there will be a small break between the holidays.

Re: When do the Christmas lights go up?

I have been told Friday, November 16th for almost everything, "it's a small world holiday" will open up on November 9th, but that is more due to the capacity crowds expected and the need for as many people eaters up and running as possible.

But for Fireworks, the Christmas Tree on Main Street, the Christmas Parade, Santa's Workshop in the Big Thunder Ranch area, and all the DCA stuff, not until November 16th.

As menntioned earlier, they had a lot of issues taking down all the Halloween stuff and setting up for Christmas in the short turnover period.

Plus the fact that Veteran's Day needs NO promotion to bring in Capacity crowds, might as well wait until the next weekend.
