Anyone remember "The World Beneath Us"?

I visited the First 50 Magical Years exhibit in the Opera House lobby over the weekend (as I am wont to do), and noticed something I hadn't before: In the scale model of the park on opening day, there was an attraction called "The World Beneath Us" in Tomorrowland, next to Circarama. I have never heard of this attraction before. While the park opened several decades before I came into this world, I still consider myself fairly well informed about what was there when it opened, and this is the first time I have ever heard about The World Beneath Us. I asked the CM working there about it, and he said he had never noticed it, either, but was so helpful and went to find an answer for me (I made sure to give him a shout-out at City Hall, cause he was really great, and went out of his way). He said it was an animated feature about drilling for oil, and ran until about 1957 (though my on-line research tells me it was 1960). So... I'm just wondering of any of you out there who were fortunate enough to visit the park in its first years remember anything about this attraction? Or anyone who didn't experience it personally, but still knows anything about this? It was very exciting to learn about something new!

Can't get it to work but it should be the back of the 57 map.

Book Preview by Google of Cartoon Modern: style and design in fifties animation which lists the artist who did the actual poster for it.

Matterhorn1959 comment on another blog- The World Beneath Us which was the cartoon shown at Disneyland featuring the story of oil. From what I have seen, some nice Eyvind Earle backgrounds and some Ward Kimball caveman animation.

http://matterhorn1959.blogspot.com/ Matterhorn's actual Blog... email him he may have more information.

That is just so strange. I remember Space Station X-1 as I went on it every time we went to the Park in those far gone days. Also I remember the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea exhibit and the Rocket to the Moon, but for the life of me just can't remember this attraction at all. No recollection of the film or the characters, and I was big on Dinosaurs back then so if I saw it I am sure it would have stuck in my mind. Maybe it just was too "educational" for me back then. After all I was only 13 - 16 during the time it was there and it wasn't "Cool" to be going into anything "Edu-cation-al" during your summer vacation.

Yeah, it sounds like maybe it was a little "edumacational"... I probably wouldn't have been too interested at the time, either. But now I am so intrigued!
