the reason im on the subject is because one of my friends said and i quote "theres no thrill rides in disneyland they only have BABY rides" and i said oh hell naw so yeah let me know what are the best, biggest, scariest thrills at DLR
I'm a roller coaster junkie. I'm always riding the biggest, baddest coasters I can find. NONE of them are quite as awesome as Space Mountain or Thunder Mountain. Those two coasters are simply incredible. For Thunder it is the incredibly narrow canyons and low clearances (seemingly) as you pass in and out of caves and mines. Insanely banked and tight curves and theming that is (pardon the pun) rock solid.
Space Mountain gets its thrills from not being able to see where you are going... at all. Knowing there is an entire steel structure around you but not knowing where it is, or how close it is to you really adds to the thrill. As does the amazing sound track and the lead up to the ride itself.
Tower of Terror is one of the most amazing thrill rides ever conceived of. Sure there are taller drop rides out there... but there are NONE that are in a rickety, 70 year old freight elevator in an dilapidated and haunted hotel. Nor are there any that go through randomized drop sequences where you really and honestly have no idea what you are going to do next. Nor do any of them have elevators that go backwards and forwards.
Splash Mountain is the premier flume ride in the world with a 5 story, 45 degree, 55mph drop (on top of 4 other drops throughout the ride). It isn't merely a float down a tube but a fully themed (with a lot of AAs) ride experience.
California Screamin may not be Top Thrill or Millennium Force but it is still one of the best roller coasters out there. It is the longest coaster in the state of California. It has a really great soundtrack. It has a linear induction launch with some serious negative g forces at the top of the first hill. It's got good airtime off the bunny hills towards the end. It's got a loop. A second lift hill. It keeps its speed up through the whole ride (something a lot of coasters don't do... they slow down significantly).
I get the comment that Disneyland only have kid rides all the time. Usually from people who have never set foot in Disneyland. I've actually convinced a number of people to go and give it a try and so far they have all loved it and been back several times. If you've got friends who think it's only baby rides, explain to them what's really going on. Yes, there are rides for kids, but they aren't your typical "go around in a circle while sitting in a fake plastic choo-choo" kind or kid rides either. Disneyland also invented the tubular steel roller coaster, invented the motion simulator ride, invented hanging coaster technology (Peter Pan was supposed to be MUCH faster originally), combined roller coasters with motion simulators (Indy), etc. Tell them what there is to experience and dare them to go.
Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter
For me, the biggest thrills (currently operating) are The Enchanted Tiki Room, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Casey Jr., Mark Twain, Submarine Voyage and Space Mountain.
Tower of Terror is so much fun but it's probably the biggest thrill ride at the resort. Indeed the coasters are pretty damn fun but only California Screamin' gives you that beautiful feeling of adrenaline when you go down , all the way down. So it's really between those two but the mountains(Space, Splash and Big Thunder) are pretty thrilling in their own way, so they should be mentioned but kid rides? That's a silly thing to say since nowadays you will see plenty of kids in big coasters at every theme park.
Now, I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic!
