Cool Re: BCC's Half Marathon Trip Report!

Thanks for sharing! I was there this morning as well. I was doing great till I pulled (re-pulled) my calf. I had to walk about 3 miles but I was able to pick it back up. Managed to get a 2:30:49 despite walking 3 miles.

For anyone with access to Google earth, you can "run" the trail.

Select "view in google earth" and you can play the course. I was having some problems with my Garmin so the first 3/4 mile is missing.

Can't wait for to see some more pictures from other runners.

I was always in Corral E also.

I didn't notice the heat. I think I was so focus on my calf injury to notice the heat. I actually got cold at points- especially after rehydrating. I guess that is why they give those little heat trapping blankets at the end.

Ya, it got hot quickly. This was my first half marathon and I still haven't mastered the right balance of hydration/refueling. I'm used to 5Ks which really push your body as hard.

Next year I'll be better prepared and plan to break 2 hours.

^Ditto. This was my first half as well...I was very impressed with my time...

I had a really steady pace of 9:30 a mile....

Well, athletes say drink the powerade and splash water on yourself....well...that's what I did and it worked fine! Take 2 cups if you need to...I wish I did because I only took 1 cup of each...

Seriously... It was 'heat index one' (about 90 degrees) by about 8:30.

Way to go guys! Had I any athletic abilities I would have joined you.

We drove past the runners as we were leaving california today.
there was a big band playing "Ease on Down the Road".
For some reason it was really funny (did that kind of stuff distract you as a runner?)

Running Plant has some great training programs. I did the half marathon for recreational runners and was very happy with the plan.

Hope to see you there next year!

I brought my I-pod and was listen to a mix of Disney musical- to get me in the mood. I liked all the performances and people though. Motivated me when I got tired and frustrated.
