A New DCA district by district

With all the recent rumors flying around about the upcoming changes to California Adventure, I begin thinking of ways I would change the park. Some ideas are based on rumors and some are my own. I like DCA but I do think it's lacking the "California" experience, so I will begin to put my spin on the park district by district.

First district is Hollywood Pictures Backlot- I would change the name to "Tinseltown" since it was never really a backlot.

The Playhouse Disney theater would turn into the Brown Derby restaurant (the hat version)
The Animation building would become the original version of Superstar Limo (a high speed ride dark ride dodging paparazzi as you head through Hollywood highlights) with the Animation facade changed into a Manns Chinese Theater facade complete with Disney Stars hand/footprints
A Disney Walk of Fame would be on both sides of Hollywood Blvd and around the side leading up to ToT.
Philharmagic would replace Muppets with a Disney Concert Hall facade.
A Hollywood Bowl would replace the HPB Stage so that there is still an outdoor stage.
Monsters Inc would become The Great Disney/Pixar Movie ride featuring favorite moment from Pixar movies ( thought that it would balance with classic Disney in Philharmagic)
A "Hollywood" sign would be installed near the new location for the Animation building.
The Millionaire Building will be home to Disney Channel: On the Set which would have Playhouse Disney inside as well as an area for Disney Channel shows/movies.
At the Hyperion the area with red around it would be enclosed and a lobby would be placed there.
Tower of Terror would remain the same.
With these changes I think guest would be better able to experience the Disney version of visiting the Hollywood area.

First off, PhilharMagic is more than likely to replace MuppetVision 3D.

Second, the idea ofa Hollywood Bowl with Playhouse Disney won't fly, the area in question is too small.

Next, Superstar Limo was a bomb. Brown Derby would need to be in a new location.

But I like the ideas of having a Chinese Theatre front but where your new animation building is located, the proposal of a "Disney Walk of Fame" along Hollywood Boulevard and The Great Disney/Pixar ride. Most of the movies that have had a ride not in Fantasyland would go there.

Don't bring back SUPERSTAR LIMO. Why move PLAYHOUSE DISNEY around? Why re-do the Animation attractions? If it's TINSELSTOWN why have a HOLLYWOOD sign? Philharmagic and a Great Movie Ride would be great. But they just spent a lot to build the original Superstar Limo and retheme it as Monsters Inc. Why tear it out already? If anything add a couple more 'Fantasyland style dark rides' based on other animated movie properties that don't fit into Tomorrowland or Fantasyland.

I've been on the Walk of Fame on Hollywood BLVD. Overrated. There were too many non-working rappers trying to sell the rich white kid rap albums.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame already has the Anaheim Walk competing with it for your sidewalk viewing attention.

I would definitely like to see the Brown Derby at DCA's Hollywood - - the hat version.

I think the OP would like to bring the original concept of Super Star to DCA. Before Princess Diana's death (or Eisner cheaped out...), the ride was basically like Rock N Rollercoaster.

I think it would be better to throw out the California theme at this point and go for something else.

I agree. The original restaurant with the giant Hat would be fun for adults and kids to dine at. Even WDW made the mistake of not doing the "hat" version of the Brown Derby.

On the whole idea of Hollywood Studios area at DCA... Some ideas are nice, but superstar Limo has to be the worst of he bunch.

I think that an animation world as the theme for that courtyard would be great. It would fit the Monsters theme as well as PhilarMagic. One more top kids attraction that featured a great Disney Animated cartoon would round out the area as a must do for kids coming to DCA. I would not move Playhouse Disney to the courtyard, but bringing an animated movie to life like Little Mermaid would be great. I think even a restaurant that had a chance to dine "under the sea" would be great for kids.

(I know that Ariel has her grotto, but frankly, it never exploited the under the water theme that is a natural for a Little Mermaid themed restaurant.)

Re: A New DCA district by district

I really like all the ideas that have been mentioned here. Seems like many of us would prefer something along the lines of HOLLYWOODLAND rather than HOLLYWOOD PICTURES BACKLOT. I personally do not care for Monsters Inc, I feel that it's a ripoff of Roger Rabbit without the highly detailed queue and spinning taxis. I would like to see is a variation of the Muppet Movie Ride that was planned for MGM, since there will no longer be a Muppets presence over there once Philharmagic takes the place of Muppet Vision.
