You are probably right, DB. A lot of people would buy a Disneyland only AP. A lot would probably buy a DCA only pass too.

I seriously doubt that more than a small handful would buy a DCA only AP if it was around the same price as a Disneyland only AP.

If people have to choose one, based on what I know, the VAST majority would choose Disneyland.

Heck, compare the amount of single day, single park tickets that are sold.

Disneyland sells thousands of those tickets (sometimes over 10,000 in one day) while DCA is lucky to see any sold (and there have been days where NO single day tickets to DCA have been sold), and in the last few years, I have been told that there has never been more than a couple of hundred sold in one day.

The extra $$ is most certainly worth it to me.

Looks like DCA doesn't suck that much according to the poll results in here.

How about "coerced"? Perhaps you don't know all the details, but drew conclusions nonetheless?
Details, so you'll know something: On my first few visits to DL after DCA was built, my silver-pass relative (yes, I'm very cheap, but I also live too far away from DL -- and too busy with my life -- to commit to buying AP's) made me enter through the DCA gates first, or no getting into DL. Order/request from the company, he said. Then, since we're already there, might as well check out some of the unthemed rides. Woo-hoo, I said, but when will we be going to DL?
My relative doesn't even try anymore.

WDI was not the problem, I think WDI could have done better with more money than $650 million.

That's really just YOUR opinion right...not a fact?

It's funny because in my experience, the general public is more forgiving and has a generally higher opinion of the park than the crazies that crawl around the Disney boards.

    But keep thinking that though!

People have bought AP to crappier parks than DCA.

the only reason it pales so much is because of how good DL is and how close it is to it. If DCA was in the middle of the country it would be pretty popular and could stand on it's own.

Well, according to this poll and current one-day ticket prices, it sucks at $69 (? whatever the current price is), but it is well worth a $50-$100 annual pass add-on.
So, somewhere in between is a sweet-spot price point.

Darkbeer, I think a new poll might be needed to determine the sweet spot: "what is the most you'd pay for a DCA AP add-on to a DL-only AP?" in $25 increments.

In fact, it is his and many others' opinion, many more than share yours. So, you lose. We win. End of story.

You're comparing a park with a huge history, where the term 'theme park' at the time didn't exist to a park that's just starting. A 52 year old park that would get all the kinks out of it and make it what it is now, to a 6 year old park that has more potential.

If you compared Disneyland to majority of the parks in the world, everyone would basically choose Disneyland.

I'm so sorry that you don't like DCA Darkbeer, but people actually enjoy the place (like I do). And comparing it to probably the most popular park in the world is always never going to be a match. Not until you actually give it time to grow into a park that it can be. Whatever that may be.

    Ya think???

    Surprise...Surprise...

    Not EVERYONE thinks the same.

    Thank goodness!

We enjoy DCA. And we also paid for the "upgrade" to our DL AP's when DCA first opened.

And would continue to do so today if they still charged for it.

Here are some opinions from the "General Public" from Yahoo!

Looks like a lot of folks don't have an high opinion of DCA.

You could get a Disneyland Park ONLY Annual Pass or for an extra fee, a 2-Park AP.

Back in 2001, it was $50 for the SoCal and Deluxe upgrade to a 2-park, and $100 for the Premium version.

FYI, there was not a DCA only AP offered.

So the poll question is, if you could save $50 or $100, based on the AP, would you opt to get the Disneyland only version?
I am not a Ap because I don't live very close to the parks. If I was a Ap I would spend the $100.00 more. $100.00 is not very much money. All you have to do is cut out 1.5 trips to Starbucks a month and it is a break even deal.
