Would you prefer a DIsneyland Park Only AP instead of a 2-park AP?

OK, this question came up from the recent "DCA Sucks" thread.

So let's go back to 2001 when you had 2 choices.

You could get a Disneyland Park ONLY Annual Pass or for an extra fee, a 2-Park AP.

Back in 2001, it was $50 for the SoCal and Deluxe upgrade to a 2-park, and $100 for the Premium version.

FYI, there was not a DCA only AP offered.

So the poll question is, if you could save $50 or $100, based on the AP, would you opt to get the Disneyland only version?

No, DCA has things to offer that me and my wife love, even though its not very kid friendly.

The real question here, is would anyone buy a DCA AP if it wasn't offered on their DL AP?

Re: Would you prefer a DIsneyland Park Only AP instead of a 2-park AP?

First, thanks for starting this thread!

I would pay the extra money for DCA, because I love it there. A visit to the resort at least for me would not be complete without Soarin, or a ride on Heimlichs Chew Chew with my kids. Even if its just to stop into Imagine Ears to see if they have any new Mr. Potatoe Head accessories. DCA still may not be a full day park (at least for me, because my kids are still small). I visit at least once a month, and my travel time is probably 3 hours for that visit depending on traffic. I really look forward to the quiet time at DCA strolling through the backlot looking for characters, or sitting on the pier people watching. A visit to the resort wouldn't be the same of rus without DCA.

Edit: to answer Druggas' question...I would not buy a DCA only pass either...I want both!

    A little piece of heaven

This was the right question. I would buy an AP with both parks, but if the choice was a DL AP or just a DCA AP, well, DCA by itself does not offer enough to stand alone, but as an addition to Disneyland, (a DL/DCA AP) it is Great!

I like DCA and I go there most every visit to DLR, but I always go to DL, well most always. Well, there are fewer times that I jsut go to DCA (I do sometimes) but I do more ofetn go to just Disneyland, but I prefer to have time to go to both!

Honestly, as busy as Disneyland gets, I'd buy a DCA ONLY pass for the summer.

    So my answer is no.

Also, if they had not changed it to a combo AP by default, and left it as just DL, one would have thought that they would have had specials for APer's to get into DCA at a great discount on certain days.
I imagine the answer might be related to a cost issue, as in how much you would save. I am sure there are a whole slew of people who just want to enjoy DL, in that they get enough enjoyment just sitting on a park bench and people watch, the way the AP's are now structured it is hard for them to justify the cost.

Re: Would you prefer a DIsneyland Park Only AP instead of a 2-park AP?

I'm not an AP guy in any case, but it seems clear that DCA has value to Park-goers. Could it survive autonomously? Not on AP sales that seems a sure bet. But it subsists as an alternative to DL, and in that capacity (as a complement to DL--and complimentary to APers to boot) it serves a purpose that is appreciated by even the most cynical. It entertains (not on a DL scale, however); and most DCA critics are also frequent DCA visitors.

It is a fledgling Park hampered by great expectations. It may be great one day, or it may not; but it will never stand alone, because it doesn't have to.

This thread (and the other Anti-DCA threads) the past few days have inspired me to make a DCA avatar. Who else is with me? Let's show our support of DCA by following Uzmati's example and creating a DCA avatar.

No. I like DCA and two of Lil LL's favorite rides are in DCA.
