Re: Blue Sky Disney Article: More details about Disneyland Resort changes

Wow, that had a lot of info! It's not new stuff, but it was very detailed and interesting.

I'm very excited for all of these possible changes. The only thing I'm not excited for are all the walls that DCA is going to have. At least I'm going to be at college during the construction years.

Oh, and I don't like the Mickey on the Sun Wheel idea....that would look weird.

This is a turn of phrase I have never seen in an Al article. Al (to my knowledge) doesn't go out of his way to say that information on other sites is incorrect. I left a plethora of other Disney sites for the exact reason. Its bitter and small minded, even if it is true. Its "I'm right, they're wrong. Believe my hype, not theirs."

I don't know, sounds like he subtly just acknowledged Al as the source of some of his information.

I think you would be hardpressed to find people here you don't think Al has the premier Disneyland update and that he is a stand up writer and columnist who relies on himself and this site without acknowledging, bashing, stealing or even comparing his information and style to others.

    100% Agree

I can see how this may seem like an "I'm right, they're wrong." My perception of it was a little more innocent than what may have been posted. I perceived this as more of clarification then as a bash.

Reality is based on perception I guess.

Like I said in a previous post, read other updates and you will see that Honor mentioned a 'Classic Disney' character ride for the Golden Dreams area in the past, possibly before Al mentioned. What Honor is saying in this particular update is that Al mentioned which of the Classic Disney Character it is. Not crediting Al as the original source of the ride but as the source who leaked which character the water ride would be based on. At least that is my perception...

Re: Blue Sky Disney Article: More details about Disneyland Resort changes

I am going to reserve my judgement on all the changes until Disney has had a chance to let their new vision of DCA come to life.

Personally, I am excited to see what a relatively blank slate and 1.2 billion dollars can get you now-a-days.

Can it really get any worse?

Maybe it can!!! But give them a shot at it anyways. You throw enough ideas against a wall and some of them are bound to stick!

You'll find me waiting in line with my Annual Pass in my pocket!!!
Check out My Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 rides... I'm always working on another one... I hope they make you want to go to Disneyland.

From a May 2nd 'Blue Sky' update:

    DCA

The majority of plans for the Resort over the next 5 years will be for the younger sister park.

There has been talk about taking out a great deal of the rides around Paradise Bay, but plans change daily. The current rumors about the Zephyr being moved cannot be confirmed because the expansion budget has yet to be approved. It is unknown yet if it will be moved. The Orange Stinger will be staying, but the large citris structure will be dismantled and a Victorian stucture more in line with the Midway Mania ride will be put in it's place. There has been talk of expanding the Bay Area from where it is near Golden State down to the area where Route 66 is. This is not happening. The current proposal envision the exact opposite. The Paradise Pier section is going to be continued from TSMM all the way up to the beginning of the Golden State area. The San Francisco buildings are being looked at for retheming to turn of the century Victorian architecture as well. The cheesy surf shops and restaurants would be gone and in it's place a Victorian beer garden dining environment. Mulholland Madness, the bland, off the shelf roller coaster would be history and replaced by an entirely new coaster built in an enclosed Victorian structure. The coaster will be more of a "classic" type coaster based on major Pixar characters, which some speculate will be an exact copy of the Crush Coaster in WDSP, but my sources seriously doubt this because of the existence of Turtle Talk already in DCA and Lasseter is not likely to have two attraction of the same character in one park. The Golden Dreams theater would be rethemed to match newly rethemed areas and a dark ride would be place inside featuring an attraction based on one of everyone's favorite Disney films... fans of WDFA in the 90's should be quite happy. The Block Party Bash will be leaving at the end of 07 and a new one will take it's place early in 2008.

Current proposals are to take the face off and replace it with a Mickey Mouse face. This face would be used to hide various electronics and lasers that will be projected from it during the water show in 2009.
I just want to see lasers shooting out of Mickey's eyes.

why not? put in a visually appealing facade and a large show building encompassing the inner helix and some of the back-stage area, i think it could work nicely.

TSM is being built right under the coaster as well, remember

tunnel of love starring all of the classic disney characters anyone? what screams victorian carnival/piers more than tunnels of love?

Yeah, most of the info is already pretty well known here at MiceAge.

And I agree, Mickey on the Sun Wheel is a Hideous Idea. Hopefully
Little Mermaid will have it's own mini area with Castle! (Certainly is
    more deserving than Bug's Land~ Oh, even though I'm only a so-so
fan of Baxter, I really think the Little Mermaid attraction and
immediate surrounding area should primarily be under the direction
    of Tony.

I thought it was rather strange that the story made it sound like
Lucas hadn't seen designs of the update to Star Tours, I was
under the impression Lucas has already seen them.

    Victorian Boardwalk, 1890
    Mickey Mouse, created Nov, 1928

Did they change their minds and are placing the boardwalk in the 1930's?
