    Unfortunately I did not copy the part of the paper with the date (these are from microfilm), however I went to the library and browsed through the New York Times for July 17th 1955. This is what I found.

    Disneyland OPENED on July 18th, 1955!!!

    Well, since half the guests in the park on the 17th were not invited, that puts my opinion squarely in the 17th camp (as if dedication and world tv premiere weren't plenty enough).

    You guys all have fun on the "real" birthday of the 18th, ok? Jiminy Crickets will be chirping.
